about Nature's Yarns, Inc. on Sat Aug 11 02:40:24 -0500 2012

This is the closest yarn store to me so I've been there a couple of times when I needed basics (like Cascade for trim or something). Most of the yarns are not the types I would normally pick. I have not found the staff to be particularly knowledgeable, once they told me they hadn't heard that Malabrigo produced superwash yarns (even though they carry Malabrigo), and by phone they told me that they are not aware of any needles manufactured for kids (even though I asked about the Pony needles with the little kitty tops). And when I was asking about yarn for a blanket, they recommended the 25$ a skein Louet Euroflax as one option (most expensive blanket ever?). The last time I went with my 4 year old who is my constant companion (but admittedly high strung), and they kindly asked me to leave and come back without her. :) I had a credit to use there but gave it to a stranger, knowing that I probably wouldn't be able to justify paying for child care just to shop at a yarn store, I'd probably just go back to Uniquities next time or buy the same item online. Uniquities is a bit farther away, but they have a wider selection of yarns I'm interested in and the staff there has never asked me to leave. Nature's Yarns may just prefer to sell to an older crowd, and if that is their niche I hope it works out for them. But if you have kids younger than 10, I'd avoid this store if they are with you.
