about La Mercerie on Fri May 30 00:39:49 -0500 2014

Wonderful shop, in addition to loads of nice yarn (natural fibers) there were many other craft supplies as well. One of the employees spoke a little English and she was very helpful.

about Anne Ouvrage on Fri May 30 00:41:09 -0500 2014

Nice selection, staff were very helpful in spite of my limited French.

about Avant Après on Fri May 30 00:42:52 -0500 2014

This shop had more sewing stuff than yarn, but still a nice selection of the higher end yarns.

about Natura Handarbeiten AG on Fri May 30 00:45:53 -0500 2014

Nice selection of German and French yarns. Great location in the center of downtown. FYI Staff member did speak English.

about Magliamania on Fri May 30 00:50:33 -0500 2014

Seller sells only her own hand-dyed and tries to sources as many fibers from Switzerland as possible. There were some really nice fiber blends (like the silk linen I got). She was super helpful/friendly and spoke English to me.

about Lanas Alondra on Fri May 30 00:55:16 -0500 2014

There is also another location on Príncipe de Vergara. They have some of their own yarn line here as well as Lana Stop and Katia (both Spanish brands). You have to ask to see/touch each yarn as it is behind the counter. I do not know if they speak English as I have never tried to with them.

about Almacén de Pontejos on Fri May 30 00:58:52 -0500 2014

This Plaza is little a mini-mall for crafts. It is a great place to see if you want notions or other crafts supplies or bobbin lace. The yarn selection has very limited amounts of natural fibers. In some stores here you have to take a number to be served because it is so super busy. I do not know if they speak English as I have never tried to with them.

about Lanas Sixto on Fri May 30 01:02:56 -0500 2014

I have had nothing but friendly service here. It is true that, like most yarn stores in Madrid, you have to ask to see/touch each yarn. I was speaking Spanish to the staff, I have no idea what their English level is. It is a very cute store, and there are some hidden gems among the yarn (like a came/silk blend).

about Llanàrium on Fri May 30 01:11:00 -0500 2014

Very cute yarn store. al lot of brands harder to find in Spain, Malabrigo, Cascade, Regia. There is some locally hand dyed stuff as well. The owner is super nice and helpful. The store is within easy walking distance of Plaza Catalonia. We spoke in Spanish.

My favorite store in Barcelona. The selection is nice (lots of natural fibers and locally or eco sourced). The store owners are multi-lingual and great fun to talk to. there is also some spinning supplies there included a local rare breed and copies of a traditional Catalonian spindle.
Also the neighborhood itself is nice to get lost in, lots of artsy stores.
