Sad to report Habu closed its NYC location in August 2015.

As of today, 9/6/16, I just dialed the phone # listed and it is not in service. I believe this shop is closed. I checked on Yelp and it's indicated as closed.

about K2geter on Tue Sep 06 15:22:20 -0500 2016

This seemed to be a small shop with random items in it, and among those items were random skeins of acrylic yarn, and not necessarily a shop that I would call a "yarn shop."

No purchase made, went in just to check it out and check it off my list.

Nothing remarkable or noteworthy, beyond it's across the street from Jing Fong, and if I were not on Elizabeth Street for dim sum, I would not make the trip to the area with the primary objective of visiting this shop.

about Sticks and Strings on Tue Sep 06 15:36:51 -0500 2016

As of today's date, 9/6/16, I called the number listed above (and even checked google and Yelp), and the number is out of service, and I conclude that the shop has closed.

Cozy, well-established shop, with a nice assortment of yarns from well known manufacturers. I've always been pleased with my purchases.

about Gava on Tue Sep 06 17:00:31 -0500 2016

Not sure if this is helpful information or not; however, according to Google, this is a gift shop, not a yarn shop.

about Northeast Fiber Arts Center on Tue Nov 22 13:45:56 -0600 2016

I travel to the Burlington VT area every two years, and while in town, I try to make a stop in at this shop.

The shop has a great selection of both, more familiar brand names, as well as some local fibers and a nice selection of kettle dyed yarns the shop owner dyes herself.

The shop is arranged with a lot of eye appeal, lots of great colors, and varying weights of yarn, so there's something for everyone. And in the back there are supplies for wet & needle felting, and there are kits that the owner's friend or niece puts together for her shop, so all very unique products.

I wished I lived local, so I could visit more regularly.

My only complaint (if I must find something negative), would be there is no place to sit, either inside or outside, to either rest before/after shopping or sit down and work on a project. Beyond that? It's a splendid shop.
