If you spin or weave this is a fabulous shop! Knitters also love this shop. Anna Barry is the owner--very talented and humble weaver, spinner, dyer and basket maker. She also teaches other classes and will have guest artists for special classes. The dye and felting classes are so fun.

Many name brand wheels to try out before you buy. Beautiful drop spindles and a wide variety. But the best part is all of the roving--wool, wool blends, organic cotton, hemp, silk--you name it and she has it or can get it quickly-an entire room of roving.

The weaving room is huge--all brands and sizes of looms-Schacht is most prominent.
Classes are 5 wks and very reasonable and loom is provided. Lots of coned yarns as well as hanks and skeins. Great selection and variety. Students choose their own projects-fun to
see what everyone is doing. Has one of the widest selection of books on weaving/spinning, etc that you will find.

Prices of wheels/looms are manufacturer's suggested retail price. She will often pay the shipping. You can find wheels/looms thru an internet seller but will not have the free weaving classes that come with purchase of the loom or the ongoing customer service.

I believe in supporting the local shops and businesses-the prices here are no higher than other retail shops. The cusotmer service is excellent. Anna stands behind her products.

Weaving classes are Wed., Thurs, Sat and Sun, open every day but Monday.

What I didn't know until I got to this location is there is a sign on the door that basically says 'call first before you make a special trip here' because we may or may not even be open the hours we say we are. I had to park in the parking lot and call and call before the owner showed up.

The location is nice, she has about 1/2 a dozen kinds of wheels - the high end ones, not cheap... she has a good selection of fibers, some drop spindles and a whole lot of looms and weaving supplies.

The lady was perfectly nice to me once she figured out I knew how to spin and she didn't have to babysit me. A friend of mine from Abilene also went there and bought a wheel and said the lady was kind of a bother for the same reason - until she figures out you actually CAN spin, she sort of follows you around like you might break something.

Overall, I was pleased, but the prices were rather high - I wasn't going to pay that much for things that sell on the Internet for much less... so I bought a drop spindle and some fiber and called it good.
