Jamie and her staff are so kind and helpful. They are extremely knowledgeable and they have wonderful teaching skills!! If Jamie doesn't have what you want, she will special order whatever you want and the turnaround time is very quick. Spinnin' Yarns has a large selection of books, as a matter of fact I just saw two books in the latest Interweave Knits and Jamie has it! She also has a very large selection of printed pamphlet patterns that are all current on Ravelry. And speaking of Ravelry if you need a pattern, you can buy it in the shop thru Ravelry. I travel 15 miles east from Illinois into Indiana to shop and knit at Spinnin' Yarns.

I am so very happy to have such a wonderful yarn store so close at hand! Jamie and her staff are so very friendly and helpful at any time that you walk into the front door. If for some reason she doesn't have what you are looking for, Jamie is always willing and able to order it in for you or will look it up in line to assist you in finding it. Jamie and Penny will go out of their way to assist you with your needs. The atmosphere is comfortable, bright and cheery with so many kind, friendly and willing to share customers who frequent the store to sit and knit together. I have made many friends at Spinnin' Yarns with a common thread. . . Knitting or crocheting. Many hours of learning, sharing knowledge and many laughs have been shared in those four walls and I hope they continue for years to come!

If you need help with a fiber project, place to sit and meet some really great people and place to find some good knitting, then Spinnin Yarns is where you need to be.

The owner, Jamie, always is willing to help and have a friendly conversation.

What's to love about this shop? Only everything! The brand/color/weight/book selection is fantastic- there's something for everyone, including those of us with smaller budgets (something you can't often say about a LYS). Jamie has even ordered yarn I've found online and liked, which is awesome! I mean, if you order it online, you've gotta wait for it anyway, right? I'd always rather support a small local business than give my money away to an anonymous online retailer.

Speaking of Jamie, I can't rave enough about her. I've wandered in, having some vague idea of something I want to crochet; she listened to my (probably infuriatingly nebulous) mental meanderings, and whittled them down to the perfect project I had no idea I was dying to make. Then she helped me find a pattern and the right yarn, and a chair to sit and get started in.

There's always a lovely circle of crafters hanging out in there, willing to answer questions, or just entertain, and knit nights are a hoot and a half. Did I mention there's always tea and snacks? Who doesn't love tea and snacks?!

So on top of awesome selection, great advice, customer service rarely encountered this day and age, a lively atmosphere, wifi, and friendly people, the shop offers classes. So if you've been wanting to take up a new and incredibly rewarding craft, quit putting it off. You've found the right place.

Oh, did I mention the tea and snacks?

This is my favorite knit shop of all time! Everyone is so welcoming, friendly, and willing to help find the perfect fiber for your project. Jamie even carries spinning supplies for those interested in making their own yarn. I frequently will go and just hang out anytime I'm free and work on projects. Anytime I get stuck I know I can find help from Jamie or even any of the ladies who come. It's so relaxing:) Extensive collection of yarns to meet your needs!

I love spinnin yarns and have always had a good experience. Everyone is so nice there! My favorite place to go!

Love this store, the knit nights are super funny. I don't know if I have laughed harder. Jamie is generous with her knowledge and taught a crocheter like me how to knit. She has some fantastic yarns, fun techniques and always a bit of free wifi.

This yarn shop is my fave of all times!! I LOVE Jamie and her stuff!! I have moved from the area and STILL haven't found a place as warm, friendly or knowledgeable at my new location. I miss everyone there! I can honestly say that it is like family there, with all of a family's qualities. Some have good days, some have bad, but a family sticks together!! Her selection of yarns is wonderful and varied! Jamie is more than willing to order whatever it is you need; yarn, books, supplies...even something new to her. She will track down the information and see it is delivered for you! And if it's help you need, she either has the answer or will find if for you! Dedicated, friendly and knowledgeable! Still can't find a place where I live now that is it's equal!

I love this shop. Just finished a vest in Interlacements Irish Linen that I purchased here this spring. It took a while for it to tell me what it wanted to be. The owner, Jamie, is very knowledgeable and a great teacher. I hang out with the knitters and crocheters here whenever I can.

Yarn shop that caters to small project knitters (socks, hats, shawls, etc.) ; not sweater knitters. Yarn must be special ordered for sweaters. Good book/magazine selection. Store owner Jamie is warm ,solicitous and knowledgeable. Her staff, Pennie, not so much. Pennie offends customers when they enter the store if Jamie is absent. Her personal comments are unwarranted and encourage a regular customer to leave the establishment without a purchase. She is poisonous to Spinnin' Yarns' business. The store owner ,Jamie has worked hard to advance her business. Unfortunately some of her staff members (Pennie) are unraveling her work.

Discovered this shop while resting in the nearby coffee house (The Grindhouse). Friendliest bunch of fiberphiles ever. I will be back.

Wonderful store, getting more and more yarns. Jamie is a genius! Can help you with anything. Worth going there to buy those unusual yarns and she is happy to help you with your project.

Great place to meet people who are like minded (addicted to yarn). Knowledgeable staff and friendly atmosphere!

Sorry to email you at work but I don't have your personal email address.

Ed and I only have a cell phone now. That number is 601-522-0111.

Email when you can. I'll respond the next time we go into McComb.

Sorry about that, Karen, I've updated the address above. Glad you had fun!

I visited this shop while traveling from Oregon and visiting relatives in the area. The address on the KnitMap page was wrong, but a postal worker who was passing pointed us in the right direction. It's just around the corner from the old location, in a building that was a bait shop, so if you see confused-looking anglers and fly tyers wandering by, you're in the right place. The shop is new and growing into its space, but the people there were wonderful! Very friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Everyone wanted to see what project I was working on, and we had a long conversation about knitting, yarn, fiber shows, and I don't know what all. I came home with a pound of lovely hand-dyed fiber to spin. If you're in the area, I highly recommend this shop.

Update: October 2014 -- I just wanted to add that Spinnin' Yarns is now my favorite yarn shop ever. The staff remains incredibly friendly and helpful, and you can't better better customer service anywhere! The stock has wonderful selections, and the circle of knitters/crocheters/spinners, etc. that gather during open crafting time -- well, just be prepared to make a lot of friends.

No matter what you want to learn or know, Jamie is completely on top of what might work best for you. She's also on top of trends.

The shop is well-lit, too, which is important to me, especially if I'm sitting there and knitting.

There are also the most delightful perks at times -- treats, coffee, a donation basket filled with yarn-for-the-taking. Warm, friendly, and FUN! This is a feel good place.

I've been helped by Jamie's assistant, Pennie, many times and always find her delightful.

Someone here mentioned the store not stocking sweater's worth of yarn, which is an excellent point. Here's my take:

As for me, I just ordered a sweater's worth of yarn from Jamie -- I love that you can find just about anything you want, place an order and receive it quickly. I've also purchased a sweater's worth on the spot, with what I needed in stock. Her yarn sells quickly, so if I see something I know I'll want, I buy it.

Mostly, though, when I need a sweater's worth, I assume I'll need to order the yarn. This has worked out much better for me than purchasing on the spot as it saves me from making a compulsive decision. I also love knowing I can go through yarn book upon yarn book to find the exact perfect yarn for what I need.

The shop keeps expanding and the stock continually grows. While I'm no expert on how to run a yarn shop, Jamie strikes me as being quite savvy in stocking what she needs to keep the majority of her customers happy. She's doing what she needs to do to keep the store profitable and OPEN. Bravo! And, as time goes along, she keeps adding more bins and more yarn. It is all coming together beautifully.

Original review:

This is a wonderful new shop that continually adds more stock -- there is always something new to see.

Shop owner Jamie is extremely knowledgeable and can help you with any knitting question you might have. There are also fun events -- everything from a Railcats knit night, to charity knitting, to spinning events and more.

I am so glad that Lake County had this wonderful shop!

Hi Jamie,
It is so cool to know that you have started a business with yarn. I have been knitting for years and I don't have anyone that I can share my hobby with. I do have a closet full of yarn! I have made mittens for my daughter In-laws whole school class for Christmas and dresses for my granddaughters this year. Also usually make an adult sweater every two weeks. Now that I am retired (for the most part). Send me info............. Carol

Congrats! on your store. I am sure you will enjoy it. It is always nice to meet new people, and after time they become family.

I am anxious to come and see it, and it will be nice to have my daughter, Jamie, try to make me understand patterns!!!

You go girl...
