I found it easily. Is located in a location with very little access to parking. as is all of the L.A. area. But was worth a little walk. I found a brand od yarn I have not found in a dozen shops. Very nice display of books & magi. Very helpful owner, very nice. We war travelinh & I had limited time ti spend there but it would have taken days for me to look properly, days I wish I had.

Selection is pretty good. Store was nice in general.

Accessibility was terrible. No disability parking, very little close parking in general. Multiple stairs to access the front. I don't know if they will open the back door or not for individuals who cannot make it up the stairs at all.

Wow, my experiences have been very different. As I live in the VI I really don't have a local yarn shop so I stop into Skein every time I'm in America. I think the owner and her hubby are very helpful - she worked with me for over a half an hour to help me find just the right color purple for a project and then special ordered it for me. She kept it for several months until I returned again to CA and it was perfect.

A gentleman knitter in the store showed me how to make a multidirectional scarf and I think the selection of upper end yarns is quite good. At the knitting table in the back of the shop the fluorescent lights are appropriate for actual knitting and in any yarn shop I take a look at my yarn outside before I purchase - Skein has a nice front porch area to do this.

I think there is a distinction to be made between pushy and attentive and I feel the latter is appropriate for Skein. They are in business to sell yarn and accessories but I have never felt pushed and I have left the store without a purchase once or twice - but in general, if I'm in a LYS it is to make a purchase!

Very pushy staff made me feel like I wanted to grab and run instead of spending the time to choose wisely. The convenience of the downtown Pas location does not make up for the higher prices and so-so yarn selection.

Skein carries some very nice yarns, almost all prices are higher than full retail, book selection is minimal. I prefer Unraveled in Monrovia, which is several miles further from me but has a great helpful staff and excellent classes -- a beautiful and comfortable store with a terrific selection of yarns -- sorry, Skein...

I agree that parking is horrible. Non-existent parking lot so mostly you park on the street. Like Heterotopia, I am walking distance so it isn't that bad. It really is a horrible location. The selection is ok but I agree with the others about the atmosphere. It leaves a lot to be desired. Very quiet and the staff is pushy, pushy. If I want suggestions, I will ask. I only go there if I am desperate.

I agree with Heterotopia, in that the prices seem to fit the location, and the silence is definitely awkward. There's something about the staff and the atmosphere that seems to tell you to get what you came for and leave quickly so that you're not bothering the staff/owners. Very odd. In regards to pushiness, I seem to experience the opposite: distant, sometimes surly staff.

It's Pasadena, parking is horrible where ever you go, but I do agree that the service here is a bit too pushy. I don't like it when someone tries to sell me on everything skein I touch.

I hate the sterile atmosphere. I don't like the silence or the glaring florescent lights. It's awkward when I can hear tummy rumbling that are not my own.

The price is a little high, but it's due to the location. Rent is high in that city.

I come here from time to time because it's the closest yarn store to me (walking distance). Though, I usually make the effort to go to Abuelita's in South Pasadena instead.

Parking is horrible, staff is "too" friendly and prices are high. Browsing is discouraged.
