I find it bizarre that the shop is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, which I found out about by arriving to the shop on a past Tuesday. From what I understand, this is recent. However, it doesn't really inspire me to go back.

I've always had good experiences with the fine folks at Sheepish. They carry some things that you can't find everywhere, and they are my go-to place for the basics. The staff has been consistently knowledgeable and friendly without hovering, and it is one of the few yarn shops my children are also happy to visit. Come check it out!

It’s a great shop in a great location. The staff was very friendly here. I felt comfortable browsing around the shop at my own pace.

The yarn supply at Sheepish is getting better all the time and the people working at the store are wonderful, helpful and knowledgable.

I really want to like Sheepish because I feel like the owners are very nice and it's a great location. But I can't find any yarn that I really like there. They do have a good selection of Cascade and some Alpaca yarns in the front. But.. I felt that their sock yarns were limited. The atmosphere is depression and the shop needs a makeover in the back.

This is my LYS. I love it, and you will, too. Carrie stocks interesting yarns that you can't find everywhere.

When you come into a knit shop you want an a-ha moment, know fake looks or over the (readers)
Well this is the place NO attitudes just fun, knit, shop & learn. That's what I came for! Carry on Carrie, Stacy, Brooke & Cat. I can't wait to get back & knit with you all.

A follow-up comment from above poster: We now have TONS of yarn. Stop by sometime and check it out!

Hi! I work at Sheepish. Thanks to everyone for your sweet comments. I noticed that people are finding our stock a little lacking. I agree, and I just wanted to remind you that the more yarn you buy, the more yarn we can afford to stock! Everyone at Sheepish has really high hopes for the store, but we need customers' support to grow! :) I hope we make it too.

I hope this shop makes it as I can walk there! They really have very little yarn so I'm not sure how things are going. It's about the same as it was when it was Nease's. Knowledgeable knitters work there but not much to buy. I'll keep trying in hopes that they pick it up on the stock!

This store is amazing. I feel pleasantly at ease as soon as I walk in the door, and I love how easy-going the staff is! Even though Sheepish has only been open for a little while now, they have an incredible selection, and it just keeps growing. And when they have a sale, I make sure to get down there asap because there is no telling what kind of treasures will be discounted. I really love Sheepish!

I visited this shop today and was very suprised. It is a small shop with a descent selection of yarns, but what suprised me the most was the knowledge of the woman working. She might be an owner, not sure. She didnt have the yarn I was looking for, but she had books that we could look stuff up in and compare alternatives. She was very helpful. The selection was a little more limited than some other shops in the Metro area, but it was worth the visit. I love Cascade yarns and she had a nice selection. She seemed very open to helping get what I wanted. Also, I saw a sign that said they had private sessions for $20/half hour, I think I will take advantage of this service!

I am so happy to have a yarn shop close by. I agree they are limited in some supplies, but not on helpfulness. I look forward to trying out the Tuesday night knit group.

We ARE open on Sundays from noon till 5pm.

We do our best to make EVERYONE feel welcome at our shop--that includes little ones. If you have a problem or comment you'd like to make, please contact us. We are always looking for feedback about what you like, what you'd like to see, etc. We are growing by leaps and bounds; if you didn't see anything last time you stopped by, give us another try. We have lots of stuff coming in from our "regular" companies, plus we're starting to carry many new types of yarns and supplies.

Hope to see you soon!

This is a cute little shop. The staff is really nice though and its worth a stop if you are in the Decatur area. I wouldn't make a trip across town as the stock is very limited. I'm hoping they'll get more stock in as its very sparse right now.

Opened in September, Sheepish has an ever-expanding selection of designer and basic yarns--everything from Brown Sheep to hand painted, one-of-a-kind skeins. Owner Carrie Curns and her staff have a real flair for selecting yarns with wide appeal to a variety of knitters and crocheters. The atmosphere is welcoming and the staff helpful. They are experienced knitters and crocheters and also serve as excellent teachers for private and group lessons. Recently added are spinning wheels, spinning fiber, hand spindles, and weaving equipment, hard to find in metro Atlanta. The store is bright and airy, with comfortable seating. Great pattern and needle selection. Wonderful place to hang out (especially knit nights on Tuesday) with other fiber people.

I love this shop. I am now a Tuesday night regular. I felt welcomed from my very first time in the shop.

Great shop! Fantastic location, and a nice selection of yarns and knitting paraphernalia. Folks are helpful and genuine. Give it a try!

by Stacy on Wednesday, Dec 17 2008 at 04:40PM CST

Hi! I'm Stacy, and I'd like to reply to the December 9 comment left by "anonymous." I remember the purchase she's talking about, and I was the person who rang it up. The yarn in question was one that normally sells for $20 a ball. We (the staff) had discussed putting this particular color on the clearance rack, but I had not been working the day it actually got put on sale. Things on clearance normally are marked down 25%-40%, so when the customer brought it to the counter, I was surprised to see it marked at only $5. I wanted to double-check before I rang it up, to make sure Carrie really had meant to discount it that deeply.

It never crossed my mind for a moment that the customer had remarked the price. I assure you, my asking if the price was correct was not an accusation of any kind, nor does it mean I don't know our merchandise. Rather, I was actually excited for the customer because she was getting such a great deal! If she took my question as anything other than the way it was intended, that is unfortunate, and I think it would be a mistake to stay away from our shop for such a reason.

by Anonymous on Wednesday, Dec 17 2008 at 03:52PM CST

I have to say that I have always found the Sheepish folks to be wonderful--knowledgeable about merchandise, understanding about budgets, friendly, helpful, etc. I rarely comment on comments, but I can't imagine any of the Sheepish staff passively aggressively accusing anyone of stealing. Did it occur to you that the clerk may have thought the item was mismarked? SKM

by Anonymous on Tuesday, Dec 09 2008 at 10:47AM CST

I was in there today 12/9/2008 at lunch. I selected a skein of artisan yarn ($15), a magazine, and ball of sale yarn ($5). When I was checking out the clerk yelled at another "Is this correct" in front of the women sitting at the table. I felt like I was being accused of remarking the sale ball of yarn! She should know her merchandise better! I won't be going back!

A great little yarn store. They are just getting up and running, but already have a very nice selection of stuff (good choice of Cascade 220, sock yarn, alpaca, and all sorts of other things.) I think spinning and weaving supplies will be in after Christmas, or maybe before...

by Anonymous on Wednesday, Sep 24 2008 at 08:57PM CDT

This shop has a VERY limited selection. I like walking there but there is NO yarn to buy! Hope it gets better as time goes on.
