This store looks very inviting and I couldn't wait to take a class. I'm a novice at crochet and knitting. I took a class in which they reassured me that I could do, when I got there I felt it was overbooked. I hardly got any help. I went back for knit doctor and got more assitance. I booked another class that day. Work got busy and I couldn't make it. When I tried to return the yarn they wouldn't take it back! They told me to come to knit doctor instead to learn the pattern. Having not even finished my first piece I decided that my daughter could learn the second project and I could finish my first project at knit doctor together. So we went on a Saturday and got turned away. Apparantly I had to be the one to to take the second class since I joined up and I couldn't transfer the purchase to my daughter. She's in middle school and knows how to crochet. It is not like a brought a toddler in for a mommy and me date. What's the difference of whom actually knits the darn scarf? I paid for the class and wool, a total of $100. I was looking forward to finishing my first piece and having her work on the second piece I purchased. We got turned away in an instant. I'm very upset. This would have been a nice way to spend quality time together, she could have learned a new pattern. The place seems warm, cozy and inviting but looks can be deceiving!

I was stuck making a baby sweater. I walked in off the street. Showed woman my problem. In two minutes she showed me what to do.
Very pleasant. I thank her for her help.
I will tell everyone I speak to about Rumplestilskin's in Sayville.

I have been a student and customer at the shop since day one. The owners, Angela and Vinnie, are great people who have created a wonderful atmosphere to knit and learn. They have a great selection of yarns and products. The biggest attraction of all - SPINNING! No other knit shop offers it!It is the perfect place to meet up with fellow knitters and crocheters!

I have been a patron of this shop for over a year now, and I have never had an unpleasant experience. The staff is helpful, caring, and always gives each person their undivided attention and assistance. The selection and quality of yarn is amazing; the variety of classes is also great! The atmosphere of the shop and classes is lively, friendly, and accepting of all knitters, young and old, experienced and beginner! If you are seeking a personal, helpful, and enjoyable experience, then Rumpelstiltskin Yarns is the perfect place!

Great store! I don't know what the last poster meant by perfume, I didn't smell any perfume anywhere. I bet they carry few books (lots of booklets and leaflets, though) because people can just get them cheaper on amazon. They have lots of selection, many classes in knitting, spinning, and crocheting, and friendly helpful staff.

My experience with this yarn shop was mixed. The yarn selection is a bit disappointing in terms of non-animal fiber yarns. The person working there (owner, I think?) was quite friendly but my yarn purchases picked up the scent of her overdone perfume. I'd love to see more yarn here, more books (very limited selection), but it may be off to a good start!

I had a bad experience here with spinning lessons, where the "teacher" wouldn't teach, she just kind of scolded and didn't correct whatever it was I was doing wrong. Anyhow, the store is no longer there.

What a lovely surprise to find this beautiful store on the Main Street of Sayville. The store is lovely with an extensive selection of yarns. The spinning classes are something my daughter and I want to explore in the near future. The service was attentive without being overbearing. We're very grateful for Rumpelstiltskin Yarns!!

Wonderful experience. I was always very intimidated to venture into knitting. Angela, my instructor, was very patient and encouraging. I am not an expert yet, but I have almost completed my first hand-made project. What a feeling of accomplishment to take yarn and create something that I can wear and say that I made it myself. The store is warm and inviting. I felt like I was knitting in my own home.

This is a nice, bright store (new location!) with a good selection of yarns at different price points. There is spinning stuff, too, although I don't know too much about that. The staff seemed OK, but I think I caught them on a bad day. Love the hours... it's easy for a working person to get in there when they are open. Good variety of classes offered, too.
