This place has been closed for well over a year, maybe two.

I've been to their 'new' location twice now( since 2014) and still I'm not comfortable shopping here. I was ignored completely on my first visit. I left empty handed.

I returned last February 2015 and was ignored for a good 20-25 min. before a young lady asked if I needed help. Grumpy man was in the corner looking at me.

I finally decided on what I wanted after walking around the store three times and bought for $75. No thank you or come again! Really the level of indifference is appalling in this store. I prefer ordering on-line rather than being ignored. All the new books/magazines are at the front next to the cash. No place to sit or stand to look at them.
Too bad because they have a good selection but I like to be greeted at least.

So I was going there even before they moved from NOtre Dame to Sherbrooke, each time I thought it was just me.. but the staff was so RUDE!!

The last time I was there was last week - and the awful experience I got just using a ball winder was ridiculous .. then I asked for a particular needle and she tries to sell me some other more expensive needle... NEVER AGAIN. ESPACE TRICOT ALL THE WAY.

Kate: I've seen a bunch of different types of Malabrigo yarns at Effiloché

The first time I went to Mouliné was 5 years ago when they were located on Notre-Dame. The store was small , cozy, and balls of yarn were everywhere. I felt like I was in a little cave where you just wanna find a nook and knit! That old grumpy man was there , knitting in the corner, commenting on my yarn choices but that didnt bother me, I found it amusing that an old man was so much into the craft. I bought some yarn and left saying to myself I may come back next time I was in the area.

I returned recently at their new location in Westmount, on Sherbrooke West, and oh boy what a different experience! I felt like I was walking in a department store, the way the shelves were displayed and the way the neon lights were glaring on the yarn. That same old grumpy man was sitting in the corner, listening to the radio and minding his own business, and a lady was knitting behind the counter, "guarding" the knitting needles behind her. She barely aknowledge me! I was pretty shocked since I was expecting warmth and cozyness.

Anyway, after browsing the whole store and picked my yarn, I went to the lady to pay and ask for circular needles for the piece I wanted to knit. She came back with some Addi-Turbo needles at 25$ . I asked if it was available in the cheaper brand she said no she doesnt have that size in the cheaper brand. Really? You dont have it? Or you just dont want me to buy it ? And obviously as a customer you cannot go behind the counter and browse the needles yourself so what do you do? You buy the expensives needles and go knit, or you leave without.

How come I cannot browse the supply as I wish? Are they afraid of shoplifters? Or they just want to sell the most expensive stuff? Whichever, I didnt like this practice. Plus, the ambiance of the store and the coldness of the staff doesnt want to make me go back there any time soon.

Im so disappointed! Oh well, Im gonna go take my business elsewhere, such to Effiloché, or buy on the good old internet.

The large selection of sock yarn made this store worth the trip for me (two trips, actually). In addition to the regular selection on the shelves, there was a lot of sale yarn in bins on the lower level. The yarn was well organized and easy to shop. The shelves seemed well-stocked.

The books weren't well organized or easy to shop. Many looked worn. The staff wasn't unfriendly, but no one spoke to me except as I was checking out.

Great selection of yarns but the owners are rude and beligerent. I've been told the pattern I'm working with is "only good for beginners" and the owner ones almost refused to sell me a yarn because he didn't feel it was right for my project. I only go there if I absolutely have to for Malabrigo yarn as I can't find it anywhere else.

I visited this yarn store in late February 2013 on a weekend visit to Montreal. The store is easy to find, just a short walk from Vendome metro station or just one bus stop from the metro via bus #105.

Fabulous yarn store with many many choices. Love how big and open the store feels with good lighting showcasing the many different brands of high quality yarns. There is also a large lower room with lots of discounted yarn. The 2 store ladies were friendly - one was training the other, and both were very polite and nice. I felt comfortable to roam around and was not pestered or bothered; knew if I needed help I could easily ask. There are a few yarn brands that I am not familiar with which was great to see. It would be a nice touch for tourists if there is a Quebec section clearly labelled, or a sign indicating which yarns are locally made. Bought a pair of Serendipity needles from Rhode Island as a gift and the saleslady gave me a description of its history which made the purchase more meaningful, it was much appreciated.

I would definitely recommend visiting this LYS while in town.

I traveled to Montreal recently and was so excited to visit a Canadian yarn store. Unfortunately, it was a less than perfect experience. We were basically ignored by the staff, a man and two young women. The man was haranguing the women about stocking the bins and just complaining in general. He was really quite unpleasant. It is not a large store and I felt very uncomfortable listening to him. I do not ask for a lot of attention from staff while I am browsing, but I do like to be greeted. Also I expect a yarn store to be a haven from the outside world and not the domain of crabby people.

The store is amply stocked. I made some nice selections and received adequate service from one of the young ladies. She was not particularly friendly but I felt sorry for her having to work with that guy all day.

I visited last September, and was quite disappointed. I had heard good things about the store, and was there about 10 minutes before it opened.

The store opened right on time, and I went in. I wasn't greeted at all, and was completely ignored for the entire time I was there. Despite having picked out a nice haul of yarns, I put them all back after waiting for what seemed an age with still nobody acknowledging me.

I don't like to be pestered and fawned over when I'm shopping, but I do like to, at least, be acknowledged by the staff.

I loved the selection and the prices. Had a lovely conversation with the proprietor about what was "hot" in Montreal right now.

I keep returning, and finding myself somehow disappointed by the store. The staff are fine, though not quite as personable as some other places, but they're all polite and know what they're talking about. They carry many of the nicest brands, such as Malabrigo, Punta, and Berrocco, as well as many many more.

I think perhaps my biggest problem with them is simply that they don't carry a single yarn that is unique to them (I travel between Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal quite frequently, so do a lot of yarn tourism!) While I do expect most of one's stock to overlap with other stores, since there are only so many suppliers in Canada, I also like to be able to find one or two yarns that are special to just the store, or at the very least the city. (Tanis Fibre Arts which is the closest they carry to that can be found in multiple other stores, and I own a ton of it!)

I was like a kid in a candy store! They have a very good selection, and really good prices. I really appreciated the help and advice from the owner and her sales girl. I can't wait to go again!

The proprio are nice, available, they know very well their stuff and give good advices. They have often discount on their very large yarn variety. I love that place.

They have a very good selection of yarns. The store is a bite crowded and there is no room to look at books.
