I am from Texas and will be coming to Shreveport on July 4th. I know it is a holiday, so was wondering if this shop will be open that day - it is a Wednesday. I don't have a LYS where I live and am really hoping to be able to visit this one!

While visiting Shreveport to attend a family members funeral I took an afternoon off to get away....couldn't think of anything better than finding a yarn shop to ease my tension. What a wonderful surprise to find such a gem tucked into a row of delightful shops.

The friendliness and appearance of the shop were refreshing. My only regret is that I forgot to bring my present project so I could sit, enjoy a cup of coffee and chat about knitting.

If I am ever again in the area I will come to the shop and stay awhile!

Thank you all for the very positive comments! I always want you to feel welcome in the shop. Btw, Stephanie Pearl-McPhee is coming to the shop on March 17 for book signing and a lecture! We are so very excited and hope you are too! If you have not read her books, you should! You will keel over laughing... There is a humorous lecture that evening! Don't miss this exciting event! We hope to see you there!!! Nancy

Made my first stop at "Knitting Under the Influence" just last week. Wow! I was more than impressed. I want to plan a special trip to Shreveport just to browse the store and visit with Mrs. Nancy and Mrs. Linda!

I would LOVE a location in the Monroe area, wink, wink! :)

we website is now .net. I stopped in during my roadtrip and we greeted by Nancy and all the ladies whoe wer in knitting. They even invited me to join them for lunch and knitting. I really liked the store and plan to make it a regular stop on my trips to visit my grandmother in LA from Kansas City.

Hi, my knitting friends! Thanks for all the positive comments... and sorry for the bad one...; I assure you, I don't pull guns on customers! Guess that is a product of "drug induced customers"! You can see from comments that we take care of the lovely people who visit our shop! Hope to see you soon! Nancy

Just visited this shop last week while visiting in Shreveport....loved the name, so had to check it out! What a fun experience, I'm now knitting in the round. I was patiently helped and guided so that "you will be successful". I bought all my supplies for my project and am now back home knitting my grandson a sweater, my first. I'll be back in November and will definitely make it back to visit my new knitting friends. Thank you so much!!! See ya in November.

I visited your shop for the first time today. Everyone in the store was so friendly. Irene helped me find a pattern for a shawl that was within my abilities. My only regret is that I was unable to sit and knit for a while. I will definately be back. I can not wait for my next visit.

I love your shop and you and your staff are always so helpful. I have been to your hat class and really enjoyed it. I did not know how to knit when I first came to your shop. Nancy sat down with me all afternoon and got me started. Also all the knitters around the table were very nice and helpful. It is a fun place to go and relax and enjoy good company and great tips for knitting. Nancy has beautiful selection of yarn-I could spend lots of money every time I go in the shop. Love you Nancy and enjoy coming to your shop.

Nancy and here staff made what otherwise might have been a boring and tedious trip to Shreveport on business such a pleasure. The atmosphere was sincerely welcoming and every effort was made to see that I was comfortable and felt at home -- which I did, very quickly. I spent three afternoons there, all of them pleasant and left with some wonderful yarn, many new ideas to try and a new level of inspiration for my knitting. Bravo ladies!

Let me tell you about my first experience with Nancy. Her shop was new & she was really busy getting it all up and running. I went by just to look, not wanting to start anything new, because I had tried to start a prayer shawl for a seriously ill friend and was having fits with it. I told her that I was only there to see her shop and explained why. She begged me to bring my shawl project to her, so she could help me with it, even though I had bought my yarn elsewhere. I did take my pattern (way too complicated for me) and yarn to her. She found a much easier, yet still very pretty, pattern for the mohair yarn I had. She held me hand, encouraged me, tutored me through the process. After I finished it, she gave me a shawl pin to send along with the shawl to my friend. Nancy didn't make a penny off helping me. In fact, she lost money, since she gave me that pin. She truly believes in southern hospitality and is a lady of fine character.

I have visited this store multiple times and have always found it to be packed with knitters/crocheters all enjoying themselves. I have always been treated well and appreciate the fact that we actually have a knitting shop! Nancy and everyone are very welcoming and helpful! Don't let all these poor comments keep you away. Make up your own mind and go visit!

I passed through Shreveport with my husband on a Friday evening around Christmas this year. I had read all the reviews on Knitmap and was prepared to find some attitude in this store. However, I was disappointed to find that everyone was very cheerful and happy in this shop, so I'm not sure what the deal is with the reviews... Several ladies were drinking some wine for happy hour and knitting. It was very cozy and nice. They were all super helpful and even invited me to sit and knit with them. Nancy certainly didn't pull a gun on me!

Who knows what is happening with these reviews, but I really liked this shop. We stopped at four or five on our trip, and this was by far my favorite. They had some very unique yarns, were willing to help me with any knitting issues I was currently having, and they had the largest selection of Lantern Moon needles I've seen in one store! The store is small, so the yarn selection is small too.

Personally, like every one of us, Nancy probably has a bad day occasionally, which is probably where some of these bad reviews are coming from. Just give it a chance and I'm sure you won't be disappointed by this shop. It is excellent!

I was in nancys about several months ago and she is not as nice as she seems. I crochet and wanted to learn to knit she had someone follow me around in the store and then she pulled a gun on me said I look suspicious like someone who robbed her. a few months later I heard that a teacher was treated the same way. I think Nancy i getting old and senille at first I thought it was because I was black but the teacher from Hunington was white so I think shes just plain crazy its a shame too! Because now I take classes from Hobby Lobby and Bipsy.

WONDERFUL!!! Beautiful yarns and supplies with people so willing to help. I am a new knitter and have felt so welcomed and at home with Nancy, Diane, Donna, and Ann to help teach me. Just like knitting with your best friends over coffee, loving encouragement and support.

I own this shop and want you all to know that the hours of operation are incorrect. (I would be LIVING here!!!) Correct hours are: Tuesday-Friday 11a.m. until 6 p.m. Saturdays 10:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. and closed Sunday and Monday. Come see me!

Hi, sweet customers! Thanks for all the nice reviews of my store. I always want you all to be overwhelmingly satisfied with my products and most especially with the service you receive!!! When reading Katherine's review, I became very distressed. Please call me, Katherine, at 318-393-3617 and describe who helped you so that I can be informed. Sometimes random knitters (sitting around the table...) jump up and come to my worker's aid...and apparently with a bad result! Please forgive my "vacation day" and come back. I would love to meet you and make up for your unpleasant experience. Thanks and a big hug and smile! Nancy

by Katherine on Thursday, Jun 11 2009 at 05:47PM CDT

I stopped by because I had a problem with the project I was working on and I needed a bit of help. The woman who helped me (it wasn't Nancy - I was told she was on vacation) was very condescending and rather insulting. She was snarky about the way I knit and made me feel very uncomfortable. She fixed the problem but then knit several more rows, not following the pattern, creating a new problem! She handed it back and just said, oh, you'll have to rip that out and fix it. That was what I was having trouble doing in the first place!

I won't be going back. From everything I've heard Nancy is perfectly nice, but the woman she had running the store while she was on vacation has ruined the shop for me.

I don't knit but Nancy is delightful. I sent the pics of the winder to Bob, Nancy.

Absolutely delightful little yarn store in an area that was desperately in need of a yarn store. Great selection of beautiful, quality yarns. Nancy is a wonderful owner and we immediately felt welcome in her place.

Can't wait to go back!
