Contrary to what has been posted here, I found the staff at Kings friendly, helpful, and in no way suspicious or anything like that, which does happen to me on occasion due to the fact that I'm in my early 30s and have blue and purple hair. They were able to fix my moms sewing machine in a reasonable amount of time and for a very reasonable price. They were even able to order me a new pedal for said sewing machine! I am in no way a regular, but I felt very welcomed when I decided spur of the moment to join their Saturday afternoon group. I will recommend this place to any and all and look forward to my next visit!

Fantastic cottons selection - something I'm not used to as a midwesterner!

Was immediately off-put by lady greeting us. When you step in, it looks like a sewing center. I knew that - I'd been on Knitmaps so I knew they had yarn. I had my sister in tow, who is a complete newbie. I was going to treat her to needles, any yarn she wanted, anything she wanted to try.

The greeting woman's first remark was "Well, we're a REAL yarn store". Honey, I've been in yarn stores in VT, NY, MI, IL, OH and to Stitches conventions. And I found you on Knitmaps so I know what you carry.

Then she followed us into the knitting room and proceeded to watch us like a hawk. I got an immediate vibe of "I'm watching you, so don't think you can steal". (If you're reading this, ma'am - my sister and I looked alike - large white women, one of whom was a week out of a hip replacement and using a walker. I want you to reflect on your treatment of us.) I'd picked out an extra set of #1 needles, as I knew I was going to lose one or two on the plane back. And a really nice tiny crochet hook with cover. And some doodads and I'd pulled out about 5 skeins of yarn. But after her third visit with pointed suggestions (no questions about my level of experience or what I needed or was interested in), my excitement had completely leeched away and I put everything on the round table in the middle and thought, "My sister's a beginner. She'll be happy with Joann's stuff" and we left.

I was saddened by my experience, as I visit my hometown of Pensacola 2-3 times a year and would have loved to have made this a regular stop to add to my stash, especially considering the HUGE selection of cottons. Frankly, I felt like I've heard many African-Americans feel - like she'd made up her mind about us within 30 seconds of us stepping in the store and written us off.

I love this shop! Was on vacation in Pensacola and I found this little gem! The woman who owns the shop is a sweetheart. It's a tiny shop filled floor to ceiling with wonderful things. I'll be back next year!

The staff and other patrons kept to themselves when we stopped in this shop during vacation earlier this year. The staff only spoke to us upon entering and during checkout. The employee ringing up my purchase questioned my yarn choice after hearing the project pattern. Odd, since I didn’t ask for advice. The yarn room has a cozy feel though. This shop had a wide selection of yarns and I enjoyed browsing through it all. We were able to find exactly what we wanted, too.

King's Sewing is an awesome yarn shop. She always takes time to help you with with project planning, finding the correct supplies, etc. My son and I learned to knit here. Ms Amy is a great teacher and very patient.
I've only been to it a couple times but the Sat afternoon group is very warm & welcoming! BTW there is wifi if your partner wants to go on the laptop while you shop or knit! :-)

LOVE LOVE LOVE this store! I'm on the west side by yarnside gathering, and always make the trek over to this store when I have some extra yarn cash. The staff is always very helpful and friendly, and I am NOT one of the regulars. I've even had the owner pull stock out of the back so we could find my dye lot. They also have an awesome dude who repairs sewing machines and always does a good job on mine that I inherited from my great-grandmother.

Broad selection of yarns, though not a lot of depth in the selection. Staff is not particularly helpful unless you're one of their regulars
