Great shop- very helpful. I really enjoyed the various fibers and the hand-dyed yarn. Went in for something that I hadn't been able to find in some other shops in IL and they had just what I was looking for and then some!!

Just called back and ordered another skein of what I purchased and they were very helpful with that as well.

If I am back in Boulder I will definitely visit there again!!

Cozy little place. I've never been to a shop that had such a huge selection of natural colored and hand dyed roving. I was in there waaayyyy longer than I inteded. They are in what I would consider downtown Boulder. Lots of walking around and looking to see.

I can't comment on the yarn selection as I was totally distracted by all the spinning fiber.

The young lady in there was helpful and pleasant. A rousing thumbs up. I would go there again

I love this yarn. Huge selection of bases and really great hand-dyed colorways. Very affordable. Also lots of roving!
Small shop, so gets crowded.

I visited this store while visiting from out of town and it's a wonderful find! It is more oriented to spinners, so it is not your general all purpose yarn shop with vast choices of yarn. The yarn it has is high quality and unique, but not necessarily high priced. The young woman working there was very friendly and answered a bunch of questions from my sister who doesn't knit. My sister loved the felted items in the store and is now thinking about taking up knitting! A beautiful unique store worth visiting!

I went here today to find a certain saturated red yarn that I just couldn't find anywhere else. Before long I had an arm load of gorgeous yarn to choose from, wool and mohair and silk! The staff was very helpful and I was surprised how affordable the yarn I chose was. Definitely worth a stop when you're in Boulder!

Anonymous- I am an employee and knitting teacher at Gypsy Wools. I'm very sorry that you did not have an enjoyable time at our shop. I take your comments about our customer service very seriously, and will do my best to make sure that you and other customers do not have an experience like this again. We really do try to be friendly and helpful to every customer, so I am very sorry that this was not your experience!

As all of our yarns are hand dyed and hand painted, we tend to have very small dye lots, but we do try to keep the dye lots to at least 2 pounds, so that we do have options for larger projects. We also try to be a source for things that are harder to find in Boulder, like unusual spinning fibers and rug yarns. (Though the rug yarns could certainly be used for other durable projects like heavy blankets, bags, and they felt beautifully.) We do, however, have lots of softer yarns for knitting next to the skin items also.

Again, I am sorry you didn't have a good experience and didn't find yarns you liked that would work for your projects. Our stock is constantly changing as we dye new batches of yarn, so I would like to encourage you to have another look, and to give us a chance to show you that we have taken your customer service comments to heart!

Please feel free to contact me or the owner at info@gypsywools.com

I have been to this shop twice and found it really lacking for knitters. I don't spin, but it looks like maybe they have some good options for spinners. The first time I went, there were THREE clerks in this tiny shop and not one word was said to me in the 20 minutes I was looking around. Two of the younger clerks were bad mouthing customers in a very unkind way, which left me wondering what they might say about me when I left. The owner was on the telephone having a heated discussion with her bank card company. They had a very large selection of what appeared to be rug yarns taking up about 40% of the shop. They were pretty, but felt like they would be impossible to use for anything but making rugs - which I have yet to do in my knitting career. They do have some pretty hand-dyes, but there is seldom more than one skein of anything and I couldn't find anything I liked in a quantity large enough to do anything but make a pair of socks or a scarf. I went the second time because a friend had asked about the store. I'll be taking my money to other places, like Shuttles in the future.

What a wonderful shop! Everything is unique, most of it hand dyed by the owner herself! There are a lot of rare, endangered, and hard to find spinning fibers that you would usually have to go to wool markets to find. There are many yarns spun my small mills and specialty spun for the store as well. They even have some organic wools and cottons, and naturally dyed skeins in beautiful colors! The staff is very friendly and very knowledgeable and clearly they love knitting as much as I do!

What a terrific yarn shop. Located next door to the Boulderado Hotel, the space is quite attractive....even the curtains have flair. Many of the yarns are hand dyed...so the color pallette is beautiful. The one thing I wished was that there were directions for the finished items on the wall (a felted rug and some beautiful felted bags). Very inspiring.

Gypsy Wools is an amazingly well organized shop, with higher end fleece, batt, yarn and tools. The private label yarns are one-of-a-kind, personally sought by the owner who has 'first rights' to pick of the flock with her suppliers.

Great service, very knowledgible staff and a fun location just off the Pearl Street Mall. Expect superior quality, and get your fibers there.

Gypsy Wools is a great little yarn store. I only went in because it was located near my orchestra rehearsal, and needed a pair of 7 dpns. I went in expecting the good bamboo ones I was searching for to be at least $10, like they usually are, and they were only $6! I will definately be visiting again, hopefully next time being able to pick up some of their pretty, hand-dyed yarn.
