Store Closing March 2017

Crafty Planet is an independent retailer who prides itself with a do-it-yourself ethos, bringing you the coolest craft stuff in the galaxy! Much to our dismay, no one in the Twin Cities carried stuff like Sublime Stitching, or hundreds of bolts of super cool reproduction & modern fabrics, so we thought, “What the heck," and decided to open a shop ourselves! And so Crafty Planet was born in 2003.

In addition to the above, we carry a growing (and growing and growing) knitting section, handy books, a great kids' crafty kits section, private parties, and so much more--not to mention an abundance of classes with the best-est, friendliest instructors around. So stop by and explore the Planet sometime! If you can't make it to Minneapolis, we hope our online store is the next best thing!

This is my favorite LYS! I've been a customer for at least 10 years and love Trish, Matt and their employees. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. The yarn selection may not be as large as some stores, but I love their retro/kitchy fabrics. I also go there for my embroidery supplies and knitting needles.

The yarn selection has improved somewhat in the recent years. More of a fabric store though (which I totally do not mind, but my wallet hates...)

The women there are SUPER nice and helpful. The husband/owner is, well, a guy and you can tell he's not crazy into running a craft store so he's not as helpful or eager as the wife or other female employee. He's still nice enough but doesn't like to chit chat with the customers.

I make mainly wool diaper covers and their selection of cheaper wool yarn fits my needs just fine.

The yarn selection still hasn't improved but the fabrics and the support are well worth a visit. When I was there they were hosting a "start sewing" class, so it's a great place for those who haven't done anything crafty since their Girl Scout days.

After driving by this storefront many times, I finally stopped in last week. The selection is definitely not strong but lots of colors and lots of ideas for lost of craft. The fabric selection is inspiring! FYI: They are moving down the street a piece by the end of March.

I've only been there once. The store is very charming and cute. It doesn't have a lot of yarn selection, but it does have really cute fabrics! The staff was friendly without being obtrusive.

Crafty Planet is my favorite yarn store. The owners are friendly and helpful and the store is charming and cute. And best of all, it is tucked into a little old store front in NE minneapolis.
