I got to this LYS when I need a serious color hit. And they have a great selection of yarn, too.

Visited them recently on the 2011 PDX Knit Crawl! My sister and I visited all twenty stores in two days! For such a petite store, it had so much great yarn. My sister and I were mesmerized by their displays, who else has a card catalog for needles? They were crammed to the gills with people and lush, boutique yarns. I would visit again, on a less hectic day when I really need a good fix.
I give them my "Most Visually Stunning" award, it was like stepping into a magazine with those displays almost overflowing with so many vibrant colors and textures. You just have to see it for yourself.

Love this shop. Very friendly staff and great yarn selection!

One of my favorites in all of Portland. I love their range of fibers and the laid back atmosphere. There's usually at least one customer knitting at the table or on the couch and the staff is always happy and ready to help. They have just enough to be dazzling without being overwhelming with all around super nice folks.

Tiny but positively crammed with yumminess. Being next door to Bolt doesn't hurt, either!

I love everything about this shop....the loads of gorgeous yarns, the ever-changing selection that sings to whatever need I have at the moment, the staff who are so sweet and caring that they have become friends, and the down-to-earth awesomeness of Sally, the owner. I'm sad that we have moved to a different part of town so that Close Knit isn't on my daily walking route. That said, I'm more than happy to pack up the kids and head up to NE just to get a glimpse of this place. I go to Close Knit like many people go to a spa -- for relaxation, to touch beautiful things, to dream about projects yet unimagined, and to say hello to lovely people. This is truly a gem.

Small, but they sure fit a lot of nice stuff in there! Great cozy atmosphere, though despite the couches, I don't feel like I should stick around to knit. Luckily there are plenty of other places on Alberta to have a cuppa and hang out when you're done yarn shopping.

I visited this shop while in Portland recently, and I thought this shop had one of the best selections I've ever seen. The staff was super friendly and helpful, and the yarn I bought there has garnered more compliments than anything else I've owned. I wish I lived closer to this great store!

i almost wouldn't term this so much as a yarn store, but more a yarn boutique, it has that sort of feel. i went here for the first time on my birthday to buy myself something nice, and that is exactly what i got. so many lovely yarns i barely could keep myself from buying one of everything. the staff were helpful and friendly, eager to be of service while also giving you space to browse at your leisure. i've been back many times since and have a huge stash of lovely yarns to show for it.

LOVE this shop! Friendly help who show you new stuff and things you might be interested in. Found yarns here I have not seen in other shops.
Only one complaint, it could be CLOSER to my house! But then again, maybe it would be hazardous to my wallet if it were closer.
This is a MUST STOP on any Yarn Safari. Absolutely wonderful.

I was visiting from Toronto over the Christmas/NY season and had heard some LYS were going to be closed. I emailed Sally and she got right back to me about their hours, and I just loved the shop. Got my hands on some handspun, handpainted yarn I've never seen anywhere else. Super warm and friendly. Portland rocks!

one of my fav! Love the vastness of her selection, the go to place when you want to find something different, luxurious, and/or specialty dyed.

Very cozy atmosphere -- makes you feel like you've just walked into a hidden stash of wonderful stuff in Grandma's attic. Good selection, friendly service!

This is my LYS and I love it so much, I convinced Sally to let me teach some classes so I can buy even more yarn there. Lovely selection of absolutely gorgeous yarns.
