I love this store! The atmosphere is super - cosy but not crowded and lovely music. It's an oasis. I've always had a nice time there. Happy, helpful people. There are only 2 in the store, and it can get busy, but I've always found them willing and pleasant. It ain't Michaels!

I know exactly why they are doing so well - they have been in business for 17 years and customer service is number one. If you go to the store with a pattern from another shop, they are more than willing to help you with it. They even let you use their yarn winder, even if you didn't buy the yarn from them. I've been coming here for 10 years because of the wonderful service and outstanding products. One look at their guest book says it all. They are knowledgeable, personable and extremely helpful. They are definitely a 5 out of 5.
BTW, cruise ship traffic to Victoria is mostly in the evenings when the shop is closed, perhaps you were having a bad day?

This store is my least favourite of all the LYSs in Victoria. It's like they hate selling yarn. It's too bad, because they have a nice selection. Just like megly said above, the service is terrible.

I have a theory about why they are doing so well: when the cruise ship traffic comes in, the Knitters are looking for the Beehive but stumble upon this shop first. Because they carry such high end yarn, the Knitters will have spent their yarn budget in this one shop and never make it to the Beehive. Trust me, the Beehive is worth the trek!

I have been in this shop several times. The people who own/run it have no serving finesse. I waited in the shop the other week "he" was on the phone and the 'lady' was on the computer. No one broke away and I timed it - 15 minutes. I literally threw my arms up and left. The times before that I was never ever greeted either. It seems to me that if you don't want to buy a button or knit a scarf you are out of luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Manager:

I have a rather unusual request. An extremely sick friend has expressed the wish to do some 'wool embroidery with roses' in soft colours, pink, misty blues, greys, etc. As she is ill most of the time and receiving radiation regularly (with unscheduled appointments) it's going to be difficult to pin down a Date and Time when I shall be bringing her to your store.

She is staying with her 89 year old mother, and it is my intention to pick them up at mother's house, and bring them along to your store. I do hope parking is fairly convenient?

My Request: Would it be possible (if I phone you in advance) to set up two chairs, and possibly a small table or flat surface where Roberta can make her selections? This would be greatly appreciated. I promise to give you as much advance notice as I can, but with the poor state of my friend's health, this will not be easy.

My phone no: if you wish to talk to me personally is 250/743-5556. Thank you for your consideration.

Audrey Squire

This store is about 1/3 buttons, 1/3 needlepoint, and 1/3 yarns/knitting. They have a big selection of knitting books and patterns and good selection of needles. I enjoy coming in - the staff make me feel welcome.

Not a lot of yarn but LOTS of lovely buttons and other fine items (ribbons, threads, etc) that I'm sure could be incorporated into knitting. It was also nice to be able to feel and examine some beautiful Namaste knitting bags that they had in stock.
