A beautiful, clean, organized yarn shop with friendly, helpful staff. I found Atelier Marin while visiting from PA to see my son. I can't believe I'm admiting to this but I bought all of my holiday projects there. They had absolutely lovely samples and all of the yarns to go with them. I think I completely wiped them out of some colors! The owner writes a lot of their patterns and they give them away free when you buy yarn. So, I left with 6-7 free patterns to boot!

If you only knew how many times I have tried to learn to knit in the past... and failed miserably, you would understand my utter joy at finding Atelier Marin and Amanda. It's been 6 months since Amanda taught me to knit in beginning knitting! Since that time I've learned: continental knitting and purling, how to read a pattern, how to fix errors, hats, magic loop socks, feather and fan pattern, a seamless sweater(!), entrelac, how to knit and purl BACKWARDS and I can't wait to keep taking classes!! The knowledge, service and selection at Atelier Marin is unparalled. Run - don't walk there.

I really love this store. The staff is one of the friendliest and most helpful I've experienced in a yarn store yet. I'm a relatively new knitter and I definitely don't always know exactly what I'm looking for/at but Amanda and Shelly have always taken such time and care to help me. Thank you Atelier Marin! (oh! and they have so many free patterns when you get yarn, it's wonderful!)

I have only gone here as a last resort and I am usually excited by the yarns and *extremely* disappointed by the help. Not even sure if you can call it that, as I always feel as though I'm intruding on their "other" work and not really welcome.

Don't go there before closing, or else you'll get no help at all. Maybe because I'm a younger knitter and don't have gobs of money, but I just never receive the same service I noticed the older ladies getting. And when I needed help selecting a needle, it was a customer who came to my rescue, not a sales clerk.

They do have a good selection of specialty yarns, but they aren't in my price range. It is a cozy shop and the space is inviting.

Just not my kind of place. Too snooty.

Amanda has such an ability to work with all knitters at their own levels of skill, and to encourage the more timid to take a chance and develop a new skill. She'a very savvy about style, and has an excellent selection of yarns, notions and projects. Excellent class schedule, published quarterly, and I have ordered patterns from her by email and it was quick and easy.
