Artisán... is more than a name, it’s our mission. Every aspect is designed to develop and support fiber artisans…from the beginning knitter or crocheter to the highly skilled professional knitter or felt artist.
We carry only the finest hand-spun and hand-dyed yarns that are carefully crafted by some of the smallest producers in North America. We scour fiber festivals and farms to maintain our truly unique selection. And, no one we know has a better offering of artisan-made and vintage buttons and fasteners.
All of our wearables – hand-knit sweaters, hats, shawls and other garments – are made by professional knitters across the United States and Canada. No sweat shops. No factories. We feature the designs of Sandra VanBurkleo and other talented artisans along with our exclusive line of patterns.
We’re fully committed to artisanal education. Our curriculum includes a full spectrum of knitting, crochet, finishing and design classes. You’ll learn what you need to fully develop your fiber skills. We guarantee it.
When you visit, be sure to check out our selection of artisan-made gifts that includes jewelry, ceramics and photography.
After the summer ends, we will be open on Sunday.

What a great shop! I have followed them from Grosse Pointe Woods (or was it Park) to St Clair Shores and now to Farmington. I am thrilled they are now closer to home for me.

We all mourn the closing of a LYS, but jump for joy with the opening of a new shop. Artisan Knitworks has moved to Farmington and is now located on the east side of Farmington Road just south of Grand River.
Not only do they have a wonderful selection of hand dyed yarns, they have vintage buttons and jewelry.

Great place for specialty fibers - hand dyed and small mill yarns. Also, vast selection of buttons, current and vintage. Very helpful staff and lots of great classes. Definitely a yarn shop worth stopping at.
