OMG, this place is heaven. They should have bibs for the people walking in off the street. There is so much wonderful yarn, in great variety, from floor to ceiling like an old time yarn shop. Adam and a very helpful assistant both exhibited terrific customer service, and were very generous with their ideas and suggestions, not just pushing their higher priced products. I only wish I had a tenth of their experience and knowledge as well as their memory!
Besides the sheer volume of types of yarn, they carry yarn at different price points so that everyone can afford to knit. There is very little in this shop that you might find in chain craft stores, which adds to the allure. If you are a pattern junkie, and who isn't, they seem to carry every yarn booklet and book imagineable. And bag handles! Adam is a prolific and talented felter, and carries many different types of handles that can really make a bag special without making a trip into NYC or knit convention.
The Stitchery is definitely the first place I would go for any project, and it's by no means the closest in miles.
