This is a great store- large selection. Clerk- who I think is the owner -was extremely helpful, worked with me and other customers without effort and managed to help me find what I had been looking for at multiple shops and I left with a purchase that I was really excited about, couldn't wait to start knitting! I will go back.
I am late leaving this comment but, we visited this place back in Oct. 2010. Great atmosphere, lots of help without being pushy and a wonderful selection! On top of it, we could get a latte as we were browsing. We will definitely be back!!
Staff- I think owner was very friendly and helpful. Selection was OK- had some interesting samples but, just not what I think of as a cozy LYS. She did have many basket making supplies in addition to the yarn.
I have been to many a yarn shop and I have to say this is one of if not the most pleasant one of all! Monica greated me- asked my name and introduced herself and then throughout our conversation she referred to me by name. She showed me all types of fibers, was informative and attentive without hovering or pushy. Cathy, the owner was delightful and involved. there were several people in the store, calls coming in and they managed to pleasantly help all one at a time. All the while encouraging, smiling and making my visit a very plesant experience. I bought 2 of the most lovely yarns- unique to the shop and hope to be back in Manahattan Beach again sometime in the future to experience this place again! All knitters within an hour or 2 of this place are truely lucky. Those of us who happen upon it while in the area- what can I say- I must have done something good!
Great shop- very helpful. I really enjoyed the various fibers and the hand-dyed yarn. Went in for something that I hadn't been able to find in some other shops in IL and they had just what I was looking for and then some!!
Just called back and ordered another skein of what I purchased and they were very helpful with that as well.
If I am back in Boulder I will definitely visit there again!!
I get decision paralysis when there is so much to choose from! That said I did get a couple skeins of scarf yarn that I hadn't seen elsewhere. This shop has lots to offer and the staff was helpful when asked but they did not initiate assistance.
I don't know if they have moved from the above comment but I found the shop to be large with about 4 different rooms of fiber. Only a very small amt of it was unique to that shop the other yarns are those that I could get at most other large yarn shops. I like to get "vacation yarn" when I am out of town and didn't see anything that I really wanted to get. Staff was helpful and pleasant.
I think I have figured out that I really am better at the small shops because I found the other shop in town to be just delightful!
I found this great littel shop as I was visiting Estes Park. It is behind the main street, in an out of the way location but, it is a treasure. All of the yarns are handpainted and Deborah (the owner) does them all herself in a back room at the shop. She also does weaving and writes her own patterns. I was able to get a beautiful deep red hand-dyed for a ruffle scarf and a marino for a pair of fingerless mitts. She balled the red yarn for me and made a hank of the merino from a much larger hank that she had just brought back to the shop after drying it. She allowed me to look through the tub of yarns that she hadn't put up yet to give me the best selection.
Very impressive. She is one creative lady!!
THIS SHOP IS NOW CLOSED- SIGN ON THE DOOR SAYS "DUE TO THE ECONOMY ONLINE ONLY"
This is a great shop THEY HAVE MOVED around the corner to 8 Douglas Ave. The owner is a wonderful young lady and VERY helpful! I was in on a Friday with a friend as we "crawled" through town and stopped back in on Sunday to get some more hand turned Harmony needle keys (her husband makes them) and she remembered me and was very pleasant to work with. I will go back!
An awesome shop out in the middle on nowhere!! we thought is would be this rustic old building adn it is actually a modern ranch style home/shop. You walk in the door and there is a small sitting area in front of a fireplace and some yarn. Turn to the left and you are overwhelmed with the amount of yarn- all different weights, brands colors, spinning wheels, roving and patterns. Unbelievable!! Well worth the trip!
Great shop out in the country- If you are not familiar with how to get there, be sure and use the directions she gives on her website if you are using a GPS- difficult to find the address in the GPS if not put in the way she says. This shop as a lot of yarn- lots of Malabrigo and other cool stuff. Don't miss this if you are in the area.
This is a great little shop. The owner is knowledgable and helpful. She has lots of fun and unique things there as well as a nice selection of yarn. If in the area, I will definitely go back again.
THIS STORE IS CLOSED. I STOPPED BY 11/26/2013 AND THERE IS A FOR RENT SIGN IN THE WINDOW.
This is a wonderful shop! The owner, Debbie, is delightful, helpful and full of energy! I stopped in with my knitting bag hoping to get some help with gauge on a project I was wanting to start and not only did she help with that, she wound a skein of yarn that I was interested in so that I could swatch it to see if it would work for my project- it did and I bought it! Several were going to buy lunch and she asked me if I wanted anything and we all sat and ate lunch together- there is plenty of room, 4 large tables to sit and knit. Did I mention the selection? there is "regular" yarn- Brown Sheep and Vintage and there is lots of very nice yarn from small specialty companies as well as hand-dyed from at least one local dyer who brought in her latest delivery while I was there. Vegas themed colors in fingering weight. There are many notions including some made especially for the shop- again Vegas themed so, take you winnings, or don't even bother to go to the casino and stop in at this shop. I was not disappointed!!
PS- there was a knit shawl in the shop done with beading that was very unique. No one could remember the name but Carol the woman behind the cash register knew she had the pattern at home. I gave her my phone number and as I was walking into the restaurant with my husband for dinner, I received a text with the name of the pattern and author! Now that's service!!! thanks ladies for a great afternoon!!!
THIS SHOP IS CLOSED. We stopped by there last weekend on our annual KnitAway weekend and they were not open and there was no merchandise in the shop.
We stopped here on our annual KnitAway weekend and were warmly greeted by the owner. A few of us got there first and were browsing asking questions and admiring her hand dyed yarn from several local sources, including herself. The rest of our group joined in and a number of us made purchases. The shop is not large but it was friendly, had a good selection and many samples to admire. There were other customers as well buying and sitting and knitting. I would definitely stop in again if I am in the area!
