about I Knit London on Fri Dec 10 15:06:43 -0600 2010

I think this shop is rubbish. The staff are incredibly rude, surly and generally unhelpful everytime I have been there. I went in looking for stitch holders, which they didn't have(!) and the guy was totally uninterested in helping me. Other times I have asked for help and non has been forthcoming. The stock is nice, just a shame about the service.
My friend ended up helping one poor lady out when she was in there. The staff told the woman they had no books with crochet scarf patterns, my friend happened to be looking at one, pointed it out and helped her choose some wool. The staff looked on with disinterest.

I'm currently boycotting them out of principle. At least the staff in John Lewis couldn't be more helpful and I hear Loop and All the Fun of the Fair are also very good.

DON'T USE THIS SHOP ON THE INTERNET! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

I ordered some wool, it never turned up. The phone is never answered and they don't respond to emails. Only then did I google the shop and find loads of other people were having the same problems. I think Trading Standards have been involved. There was a suggestion to go to the shop which I did. I tried a saturday as apparently the opening hours are eratic. It was closed at 11am. My husband decided we weren't driving all that way for nothing and rang the door bell and a lovely lady came and opened the shop up.
She was very apologetic and phoned the wner to check she could give me a refund, which she did. (I don't think it is her fault at all as I think she said she only works there occasionally)

It's such as shame as the shop had some really lovely wool and I suspect they have just got into a total mess with the online shop. Just don't order anything online!

Awesome shop! So friendly. It is tiny but they have a great selection and by Spring should be in their new (much bigger) shop down the road.
I had a couple of patterns and needed help choosing wool and they were really helpful and knowledgeable. I'll definitley be going back on a regular basis.
It's also really easy to get to from London Victoria, two stops on the train to Herne Hill.

Nice shop, good selection of interesting wool, especially some lovely and very expensive sock wool that I just had to buy. We went on a Saturday and it was packed but they were friendly and helpful and my friend even managed to persuade them to turn her skein into a ball which they only usually do during the week when it is quieter.
