Now it's easier than ever to find your local yarn store!
I was visiting from Toronto over the Christmas/NY season and had heard some LYS were going to be closed. I emailed Sally and she got right back to me about their hours, and I just loved the shop. Got my hands on some handspun, handpainted yarn I've never seen anywhere else. Super warm and friendly. Portland rocks!
I stumbled across this place on New Year's Day. The ladies there were really nice and they had some yarns on sale. I'd definitely go back!
I really liked this shop as well, even though I didnt buy anything... I blew my allowance at Common Threads on some Tilli Tomas...but Black Sheep was worth the visit!
This place just goes on and on... really nice ladies there and some really great finds.
My doting boyfriend found this place while we were there vacationing, while he was out late with the boys. AND they had a sale on! We stopped in on the Saturday and they were having an annual inventory clear out sale, 30% off! Everyone seemed really nice and I found some great deals. I hear a rumor though that they are going to have to relocate?
I stopped in on a short trip to Chicago and bought a few nice yarns - I thought it was a nice little spot and would drop in again if I'm in town.
I LOVE Lettuce. They have one of the best selections in town, and it doesnt hurt that they're located in Kensington Market, which you can always find an excuse to spend some time poking around in.
I went for the first time yesterday and I was thoroughly surprized! It's a fantastic little shop with a really great selection, terrific book/pattern selection, a customer rewards program and really nice folks. Note: they're closed on Sundays and Mondays and only open until 4 pm on Saturdays. Highly recommended!
While these guys don't really carry any artisan yarns, its a great place to get good deals, especially during their summer blow-out tent sale (in August). You can buy yarn in bulk, often at buy 2 get one free (for as little as $20 each bag of 10 balls). Give them a call to be added to their mailing list for the flier so you get notice of the sale.
