I know them mainly from their web store and newsletter, which have been good resources for me. The physical store is indeed high end and somewhat cramped, but a great source of inspiration. And kudos to them for bringing in superstar instructors (Ruth Sorensen, Annie Modesitt) and the Oleana trunk show. If I lived in Portland, I'd be there once a week just for the rich, stimulating yarn fumes.

The move to the new location looks like it will bring lots of changes. Instead of a huge single space, the shop is now a cluster of little rooms. There is loads of seating--some in every room, but much, much less yarn stock and few needles at this point. Looks like it will take a while to work out which yarns will earn their limited shelf space. Big bonus: mere steps away from Kaladi coffee!

It's not a super duper yarn store (it's mainly a quilting store) but the yarn selection is good enough and the location is so central that I find myself stopping in there more often than other lys' that I like better. Good selection of the basics--Cascade 220 and Brown Sheep. Not so great for needles or patterns & books.
