This is my LYS, and I love it! Doni, the owner, has done way more than just amass a selection of amazing yarns and inspiring projects -- she has created a space where knitters and crocheters are equally welcome to sit, learn, and share the joys and sorrows of life together. Whether you are a learn-to-knitter or an experienced fiber artist, the back room table is a place to congregate and find creativity and fun! Barbara, the instructor and finishing expert, is an amazing teacher. She knows how to make those students who feel like they have all left thumbs feel as good about themselves as the super-speedy long-time knitters. And the experience is enhanced by Tucker, the adorable shop dog, who wags his way into your heart! If you want expertise and a great selection, don't miss Sip & Knit!
It lives up to its name -- I was hooked from my first visit and ended up popping in almost every day of our vacation. The selection of yarns was lovely, and the owner was very helpful. There is a great selection of knitted up samples that were very inspirational, and the location is spacious and inviting. If you're on the Outer Banks and have a hankering to work with yarn, you don't want to miss this great local yarn shop!
This local yarn shop has an extraordinary selection of some specialty items -- Atenti knitting bags, Tilli Tomas beaded and sequined yarns, and some hard-to-find notions and accessories (lovely bag handles, buttons, beads, etc.). And there were a large selection of yarn vendors represented. But it was disappointing because many of the yarns were only available in ones or twos, not enough for most of the projects that I was looking at. Still, it's a great location and worth a trip!
