Knitmap is now available for Android. Now it's easier than ever to find your local yarn store!
In a word: GO. This place is amazing in their sock selection. The service is a bit spotty at times, but I'd rather be left alone than followed around. The books are a little hard to access at times due to the people sitting and knitting in front of them. However, it's awesome that there's so much space and seating to hang out and stitch with friends.
Help here is hit and miss. I've been in when they are extremely helpful and very generous with their time (looking up patterns, trying to help with pattern errors) and other times staff is kind of rude. It's a crap shoot. The yarn selection is phenomenal. They carry lots of luxury and higher end yarns as well as hard to find fibers and, of course, their in-house yarn brand, Shibui Knits.
Like the name suggests, this isn't a yarn shop. It's a fabric emporium. There is a large selection of craft store brand yarns and a few mid range yarns as well as numerous accessories and notions. If you like crafts, you simply must check this place out. It's amazing in its size and overall selection of crafting materials.
This place must have a strong online presence because every time I've tried to go there it's been closed. Her website says, "Public Hours: Tues - Friday 10-3:00 Pacific Standard Time and most Mondays and Saturdays from 10-12:00. Always good to call, as I am a one woman show!" Why bother moving the shop from the beach if she's never open when people have time to shop? And really, call before you come? There are plenty of other shops I'd rather go to that I can on being open when they say they'll be open.
