There is a great selection of yarn here, especially considering the small space. The staff is wonderful and this is always a bonus, especially if you are a new knitter - Not afraid to suggest less expensive patterns to fit your budget! My only issue is that if there are more than 6 people or so in the store, not including staff, it is difficult to move around.

This store has two floors to it, which greatly increases both its capacity for yarn space and also to have classes. Although the selection is diverse and admirable, the staff and atmosphere leave much to be desired. This is a yarn store that feels more like an exclusive club, rather than open environment. I may visit again just because the yarn selection is good, but I would never stay to spend time there.

Small space, limited selection, and mediocre service. The shop has potential now that it is under new management however. Atmosphere has a dead quality to it. Would visit in emergencies.

This store has a very large selection and is on two levels. The top level is used for clearance items, which is also diverse in its selection. There is sooooo much yarn here as well as notions, and books. I don't think it's possible to take it all in in just one visit. Bonus: The have free chocolate available all over the store. Great places to sit, monthly wine and craft events, great classes, and great service. A must visit!

No visit to Portsmouth would be complete without visiting The Yarn Basket. Although this is a small space, and I mean very very very small, they've managed to make it work. Tons of yarn there, and they have more in the basement (I don't think we can go down there, but they'll get what you need!). I love it here! I wish there was a sitting space and perhaps some candy! :)

I really enjoyed visiting this store. I almost thought of moving to Middlebury just to be close to it! The staff is wonderful and helpful. Great bead selection as well. Good focus on crocheting as well as knitting - This made me very happy!

I love Lucy! Lucy is the owner of Mind's Eye and she is fabulous. She is always open to whatever crazy questions that you can come up with. Also, she really believes in her students and customers ability to learn and take on challenges. Very knowledgeable, great storyteller, and very witty. I love going there to get some of her hand-dyed yarn! Must visit in Porter Square, Cambridge, MA!
