Lovely store, can get really hectic and busy, but I love it there!

They have everything you could possibly want, and more. Love the bargain basement too! I can get lost for hours in there!

I was all excited to visit this new store when I was up in Ottawa for the weekend. The first time I went, they were closed for a week (a couple of weeks after their grand opening, wtf?) The next time I went they were open, but I wasn't terribly impressed. I know she's new, but the selection was slim, and seemed to lack any cohesion; Red Heart and Tilli Tomas practically side by side.

The location's a little sketchy, and it's absolutely tiny, not much room for growth at all.

I think the owner, who seems really nice, needs to take a moment to figure out what her action plan is, as it stands it just seems to be a bit of a mish-mash.

Not to be all negative though, I am really excited to see some excellent yarns finally available in Ottawa, so my boyfriend's sister can finally get some of it herself! I think the owner could have a great niche if she focused on fleshing out her yarn selection in these brands!

My favourite yarn store to visit whenever I'm in Ottawa for the weekend. Incredible prices, great yarns, and amazing people. I cannot say enough good things about Emily, I remember visiting before Emily was hired and the place just didn't have the same appeal. Carolyn and the new girl who's name I don't know (the one with the glasses and blond hair?) are also really nice and friendly.

Their new store is knock you off your feet incredible! It's huge and there's so much new yarn.

Good selection of yarns, but not the friendliest service. They seem to be way better with their sewing machine customers.

Lots of great yarn, and the warehouse sales are pretty good. They don't really seem to like under 30s (perhaps even under 40s) though, particularly one or two ladies.

My FMIL gets good service there though, and likes having a yarn store close to her home.

My favourite store to visit when I make it out to Montreal. Such pretty yarns, and a really nice vibe.

about Wool N' Things on Sat Nov 28 10:07:20 +0000 2009

Gorgeous yarns, but I have seen several of their prices a bit high (not because they're luxury yarns, since I see the exact same yarns available elsewhere for less)

about Magasin de Fibre L.B, inc. - La Bobineuse de Laine on Tue Aug 10 00:45:43 +0000 2010

Probably great for weavers and machine knitters, but not an ideal location for hand knitters. As pointed out, all the yarn (except for a few yarns designed for felting projects) is in cones. While some of the yarns are well marked, it's near impossible to tell the content of others. Also, the fact that most of the cones are in banged up old cardboard boxes doesn't help entice one.

I keep returning, and finding myself somehow disappointed by the store. The staff are fine, though not quite as personable as some other places, but they're all polite and know what they're talking about. They carry many of the nicest brands, such as Malabrigo, Punta, and Berrocco, as well as many many more.

I think perhaps my biggest problem with them is simply that they don't carry a single yarn that is unique to them (I travel between Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal quite frequently, so do a lot of yarn tourism!) While I do expect most of one's stock to overlap with other stores, since there are only so many suppliers in Canada, I also like to be able to find one or two yarns that are special to just the store, or at the very least the city. (Tanis Fibre Arts which is the closest they carry to that can be found in multiple other stores, and I own a ton of it!)

The owners are super great people, I always love making the visit. The yarns are very nice, but there aren't enough of them (what can I say, I love the overstuffed look!) Certainly the best atmosphere out of the stores in the city.

I'm dying to be back in the city on a day that's not a Monday so I can go buy some of their fibre to try!
