Knitmap is now available for Android. Now it's easier than ever to find your local yarn store!
Me and my stitch group were in Hood River for a girls weekend, so of course we wanted to check out this LYS. Imagine our surprise when we had some of the worst yarn store experiences of our sordid yarn store pasts! First, we were not greeted as we entered, which I could have overlooked if we had been given ANY attention thereafter. The employee was focusing her attention on a gal who was trying to adapt a pattern...no doubt a complex question, but hardly "urgent" when we were clearly waiting for some assistance to simply find a pattern of a bolero that was knitted up and displayed in the store. I actually had to physically interrupt to get some help. Then, at checkout, I was told that the pattern I was buying was not the correct one for the yarn I was buying, and I ended up buying both since the employee was not going to let me get the one I wanted! The employee was rude, dismissive, and generally unwelcoming. I wish I had not spent $ there. Apparently, beware non-locals!
Twisted is the best LYS in the universe. I do not exaggerate. I recently went on the Portland Yarn Crawl, and although we are lucky to have many great LYSs, no other can live up to Twisted's selection, vibe, or wonderfully friendly and helpful staff.
Twisted. You. Complete. Me.
I have to agree with other posts that Happy Knits rocks. I cannot believe the size of their inventory...it's huge! Also, I have noticed their prices are slightly lower than some others about town, and the staff are friendly. Not to mention the HUGE room in the back with sale yarn, a kid's room, and PLENTY of room to sit and knit!
