This is a lovely yarn shop in the midst of Gamla Stan (Old Town) with a friendly owner. My travel companion and I easily found a few treasures that we would not see in our home communities in Canada and the US. Also, it was open on Sunday when we visited in June 2010.
A great store - loads of selection of top-notch yarns that I have not seen in Canadian or U.S. shops, and helpful friendly owners with a "you can do it (even though the pattern is in Danish) attitude"! It was hard to chose, but I did come away with linen yarn and linen/cotton blend yarn from Swedish yarn companies, and yes, a Danish pattern!. I completely agree with cblacher's comments (above). Go find this store - you will not be disappointed.
This shop was a happy surprise for me and my traveling companion. Not a huge selection, but some very nice yarn and a friendly owner. We purchased some German hand-spun and BC garn recycled silk, which was a special treat for us because they are not available in our local knit stores in North America.
This is a lovely yarn store, with a very nice owner. The store has a large selection of Noro, Debbie Bliss, and other yarns that are probably hard to get in Scandinavia, but are largely available in our stores in Vancouver, Canada. Staff kindly directed my traveling companion and I to Vihrea Vyyhti, which I thought was very sporting.
Very fun yarn store - large selection, creative, happy and friendly vibes. The owner is very knowledgeable and is always willing to help. Enjoyable place to spend an afternoon knitting.
I love this store! Great selection of high end yarns and the inventory is always changing. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful, and it is a very calming place to sit and knit.
How can you not love this place? It's the Winner's/Filene's basement/Loehman's of knitting (and sewing) supplies. It is in a crummy neighbourhood (though safe during the day), has big-box thrift store ambience (none), no service (but nice staff) and the selection is whatever they might have at the moment - and everything is $1.99/ball! I am told Dressew used to have only novelty and cheap yarn, but over the past year, Dressew has received several huge shipments of first class yarns - from Rowan, RYC, Nashua, Gedifra, Regia. It's true, there's lots of cheap lines of yarn too, and some of the yarns or colours may be discontinued, but so what? Go and see what they have.
