Lots of yarn and helpful staff. However, it's very difficult to find what I am looking for because the yarn stock is organized by color rather than yarn or fiber. I would love to support the store more, since it is local for me, but I don't have the patience to run laps around the shop to find out what colors a particular yarn is available in. Wish they would consider rearranging...

I was in the area and visited this shop. It's in a lovely, newly developed part of town, which makes the experience just that much more pleasant. The staff was helpful but didn't hover. I found the selection and range of yarns to be excellent. I went in looking for two specific yarns for a beret and ended up with that, along with yarn and pattern for another project. The shop was relatively busy just before Christmas, but all the customers got personal attention. I will certainly make this a must-visit the next time I am in Bellingham.
A great deal of yarn, but difficult to detect any organization. The bins certainly needed some attention, as yarns were a bit mixed together. I would have liked to see more knitted models of current designs. The staff was friendly and available for help when requested. A pleasant shop, all in all, but a bit out of the way for a visitor to Portland. Not sure I would make the effort to visit again.

Lots of yarn, great variety, but difficult to discern any organization. The bins certainly need some attention, as varieties have spilled into neighbors. When I visited the staff was friendly and available for help if requested. Since I am an out-of-towner, I don't think I would make the effort to come back, but it was a pleasant half-hour of browsing.

A shiny new shop not far from Yarn Garden--which is a plus for knitters on the prowl. Very enthusiastic staff, and the arrangement of the stock is very attractive.
I visited this shop last week and fell in love with the selection of quality yarns, the friendliness of the owner, and the attractiveness in the display. I hadn't been to Newport in decades, but this shop will probably bring me back again soon.
This is my favorite yarn shop in Portland--and there are many great shops! There is enough space and light to actually experience the yarns, and I found the staff energetic, friendly, and fun. I suppose a non-sock knitter might be less enthusiastic, given the amount of space devoted to sock yarn. I don't knit socks exclusively, though, and found plenty of other yarns to love.

The shop has moved to 136 Dickenson. A nice browse. Not much yarn, but what they have is very nice.

Dublin Bay carries a number of high quality yarns that I haven't seen anywhere else in Portland. It's an inviting shop with friendly staff.
