Just got back from a Paris trip where I visited this shop. Such a fun place and great atmosphere inside. Be prepared to wait as it can get busy in there and it can take some time for them to wind off your yarn once you've told them what you want. Knowing a bit of French (eg. I would like) helps but the staff is really friendly and I think used to getting non-French speakers so they work with it pretty well, just remember to smile and be polite. If you want buttons, you can get them in the same queue as for your yarn, just be sure to tell them you want some as well (be warned there are lots of lovely ones and you might walk out with some even if you don't plan to like i did!). The other items (beads, ribbons, etc.) you have to go to the other 'departments' to get seperately but if I understand right you can pay for it all in one go.

Cute little shop tucked away in the older part of Ulm. Not super obvious from the outside that it is a yarn shop but there is yarn in the window. The lady working when I went in was there didn't speak any English. She got a bit nervous when she found out we spoke English (though I also speak a little bit of German and wasn't too worried) so then asked the other customer to let us know she didn't speak any and to see if I was looking for something in particular. Very sweet thought and overal very helpful service.
How the layout of the shop works is they have one ball/skein of every color out for most of the yarns. You pick out what you are looking for and then take it to the counter where you say how many you want. She goes back into the back and brings out the yarn you want. Some yarns on display you just get the one you pick up.
Pretty decent selection of a variety of what seemed to be mostly German yarns from what I could tell.
