Knitmap is now available for Android. Now it's easier than ever to find your local yarn store!
weaver, knitter, spinner and crocheter.
I am also selling stuff on etsy! Check out my blog!
Growing up this was MY fiber store. I didn't know of a single store that sold roving and silk spinning fiber anywhere closer. In fact this is where my father bought me my first spinning wheel as a surprise fr my 13th birthday!
Love the way it is organized. Very friendly and even welcome children in if well behaved.
Very nice website, has a detailed list of yarns carried.
Nice yarns, kinda pricey but that is to be expected. Has lots of needlepoint. Very little parking overall, but if you are biking the island (I recommend this, there are bike trails EVERYWHERE) you will have no trouble.
Got a better look at the yarn yesterday and, well, she has lots of different types but nothing in bulk. Don't think to go to her to make a sweater, she doesn't have the quantity to do that, but scarfs, hats and other medium size projects are good.
My I am loving this place. Sells wool cotton and acrylic, not much else but you will have to look. They presently have knitting and crochet classes and are trying to get a dyeing class up.
I have to agree with the person above on the staff but also the rules of the store. I know some stores won't let coffee, food or small children (never mind that the child is 2 weeks old, asleep and can't even roll over let alone "get into and tangle" your lovely yarn). A yarn store that is child friendly (accepting) is a must for me, how else am I going to get my little girl to be as fiber crazed as I am?!
Ok, not to ender a second time but how does one DELETE a yarn shop? Sadly shops do close and it would be nice to be able to tell people that. Maybe a little grave marker next to the name so no one adds it again?
Congrads to mi kitter!
The one above that is Anon was me.
Great job Matt!
On another note, why is it that nothing I update on any store gets updated anymore? I updated dead yarn stores about 10 days ago and they still don't come up dead. I have added times, phone numbers and such as well and nothing is coming up. Is there a bug and you aren't getting the updates to approve or are you guys over your heads in updates?
Thank you. The yarn store in question (dead once at least) is this one: http://www.knitmap.com/locations/your-knit-parade.html .
The only reason I am posting a direct link is so you guys can check to see if you have a notice to update it in the wings or not. I don't expect it to cut in line or anything...
I would like the option of changing how the list is set up.
EX: I would like to see by most comments but lets say I put in a full address I would like to see the closest shop to that address. I little clicky thing should be able to do that.
