About Alsatia

First picked up the needles when I was a little kid. Got frustrated & put them away. Found them again in 1995, but grad school took up all my time and I never quite got the hang of it. The third time's the charm, I guess. Started knitting again in January, 2009, and this time it's forever. :) I'm alsatia2 on ravelry.

Other things I *heart*: anime, reading, Doctor Who, Torchwood, hand drumming, fantasy, science fiction.

Avatar? Riza Hawkeye from the fabulous Fullmetal Alchemist, which is a story that will make you cry. :-)

My husband and I were both in Summerville for different business things on a weekday and didn't have anywhere to be for a while, so we took the opportunity to stop by. Lovely shop! It's cosy, well-lit with sofas and a chair. Both staff who were there were friendly and attentive, and a beginning knitter was getting tons of great advice while I was browsing. There were lots of beautiful yarn of course, but also nice HiyaHiya circs and other interesting odds and ends including some cute buttons and elegant shawl pins. Found a book I've been looking for which is always a plus. I'll definitely make a point to go there again. Cheers and good luck to Emily and all at the Village Knittery!

Finally made it there today. The front room had a nice group knitting away and what seemed like a big book selection. The shelves were tucked behind the chairs & I didn't want to disturb them to see. The yarn selection was very nice with some lovely project samples around the store. They have a good amount of variety including a lot of multicolor yarns which I can't seem to resist! :) Though it was busy, they asked me if I needed anything & checked back on me more than once. Definiely somewhere I will go to again!
