Primarily a needlepoint shop, Nimblefingers' yarn is relegated to a small back room. The yarn selection is limited, focusing mainly on expensive and novelty yarns, and their selection of knitting needles and notions is poor.

By far the best yarn shop inside the Beltway. The shop itself is spacious enough for easy browsing but also cozy enough to provide a warm and inviting atmosphere. The selection is fantastic and well-organized and the service never fails to be friendly and helpful. Wendy, the owner, goes out of her way to make everyone who walks through the door feel welcome--beginners and experts alike. Don't be scared off by mlw1459's comment--there's absolutely nothing wrong with this part of town.

A lovely shop with an amazing selection of yarn. Because it's located in an old house, however, it's a bit cramped and it can be a chore to find what you're looking for. The service is friendly enough, although it's sometimes difficult to get their attention if you need assistance.

This shop seems to be more for show than for serious knitting. It's adorably decorated (like something from a magazine spread), but the selection is extremely limited. The service is very friendly and helpful, though. Owner Suzan Mischer (author of Greetings from Knit Cafe) was behind the counter when we were there and was a delight to chat with.

A delightful shop packed with a fantastic selection of yarn. The service is exceptionally friendly and helpful. If I lived in L.A. this is certainly the shop I'd frequent.
