Fine natural yarn selection in a cozy space, fun neighborhood, easy to access by local transit and close to many other cultural/shopping attractions. Haven't found the staff snobby; they always greet me and then leave me alone until I ask them for something. Frequented by the Yarn Harlot of knit-blog fame.

Fine selection in a cozy space, easily accessible by local transit and home to a really neat pet bird. Periodic sales and swaps.

Massive selection, large but over-full space, often good but sometimes really bad service, easily accessible by local transit, close to local culture/shopping attractions. A Toronto tradition, but not for the faint or orderly of heart. Shoppers may feel the need for a guide or interpreter, and possibly climbing equipment to traverse occasional yarnslides.

Fine selection, friendly staff, accessible by local transit. Few other attractions in the area.

Amazingly spacious store with fine selection nicely spread out for browsing. Friendly owner. Stained glass supplies and classes available too. Great place to stop if you're in cottage country.

Bamboo yarns in lovely colours. Wonderful space. Interesting neighborhood and close to other cultural/shopping attractions. Somewhat pricey but great for a tourist visit.

Similar selection and prices to western stores; cozy space; friendly folks; great neighborhood for hip shopping and wandering about.

Lots of undyed yarns or yarns spun with interesting textures, as well as wooden buttons, natural fabrics, and knitted clothing/accessories. Easily accessible by local transit and close to other cultural/shopping attractions.

Lovely place to knit and browse without feeling cramped. Fair selection, sweet treats, comfy chairs, friendly folks. Accessible by buses from Pape or Donlands Stn. or streetcar from Queen Stn. Not so many interesting TO attractions nearby; more a place to sit and relax or use as your LYS.

Fine selection in relaxed and well-organized browsing space, with a friendly/helpful/no pressure owner. Easily accessible by bus from Main station. Few local attractions though some interesting stores nearby; good as an LYS.

Like Lewiscraft, they also carry beads, scrapbooking supplies, cross stitch and other crafty stuff as well as yarns and knitting stuff. Emphasis on major brands and on industrially processed rather than hand-processed yarns. (This is one place where you can get 100% acrylic.) Dead easy to get to via subway and located with a lot of retail shopping as well as near good restaurants. Bland character but good if you're in the area and need supplies.

As an out-of-towner I found this store a good place to visit while touring Georgetown and if I was running out of knitting supplies. Friendly folks, accessible by bus or longish walk from Foggy Bottom Metro station, carrying mostly brands I could easily find at home.

Standard selection of established yarn brands in cozy space with friendly, helpful staff. Easily accessible by bus from Ossington stn. or Queen W. streetcars. Not very close to major attractions but interesting not-yet-gentrified neighborhood for random small art galleries, funky retro boutiques.
