Oops. Forgot to rate the store in my September 16 review.

My first visit to the Lamb Shoppe they stayed open 45 minutes past closing which I didn't realize until I left. I have always felt so welcome and nurtured here - with no pressure. The selction is great but what makes it is Mary Carol and her staff. Wonderful people always willing to help out with a technique. And it is fun to sit at one of the tables and knit while watching the neighborhood walk by [often dropping in]. Dog and people friendly.

Love the new location, like the owner, and they carry yarn I don't see elsewhere. But I've had very mixed luck with the staff and no one has ever offered to order something if the stock was inadequate for my project or if I wanted a different color. And I had to visit twice in two days [this store is not close to where I live] because the staff person wouldn't go into the back of the store to see if they had more of a yarn and insisted only the owner could answer that question -- and charged an incorrect amount on a sales yarn. Then when I returned the next night, Sylvia seemed a little put out when I asked for the mis-charge to be corrected and also didn't check in the back -- just said they didn't have more of the yarn I was interested in. No offer to order it. I know everyone has bad days but this shop is too far for me to accept a hit-or-miss approach to customer service.

This is one of my go-to stores, not near my home but close by work. Wonderful selection of accessories, yarn, needles, magazines, buttons. I've always been treated very well -- in fact, sometimes I end up staying longer than I meant to because I'm chatting with the staff. They have good bag sales -- I consider that to be when my stash really began. I like that the owner's dogs are in the store but it is too bad people with children feel unwelcome since I'm sure some bad experiences have led to that attitude. The problem with kids in other stores I find is really parents who don't adequately supervise their kids but what parent thinks that applies to them? However, I'm sure there is a more welcoming way to let people know that the store is not a toy store.

I wish this shop were closer to me! Lovely yarn, lovely people, and an open yet cozy feel. Only place I've found that stocks Habu yarns.

I'm happy to hear from Yarnthing that the shop has improved. They have a great (if messy) selection of yarn and classes on everything fiber related. However, for me their downfall is customer service. I never understood when I would hear about cold-shoulder yarn stores until I visited here. I have never felt welcome here. And some of their staff makes you feel like you have messed up their whole day by coming in. Sometimes you have to search for someone to give your money to. And one lady is, to put it bluntly, incompetent. When I first visited the store she 'helped' me and I just assumed she was new. Nope, she's always like that -- doesn't know where anything is, etc. I'll give it another try thanks to Marly's comments but they'll have to go a ways to erase the bad taste.
