About Me

I am a knitter, crocheteer, engineer, and a PhD widow. I recently moved to Wisconsin from Los Angeles. I thought 3 days in the car would be the perfect opportunity to finish that project. It turns out that sleeping is a much easier way to pass the time, and much easier do in the dark!

Shopping at Twist is a delightful experience every time. Cathy is a kind soul whose understanding of fiber is evident in her inventory. Everything in the store is exquisite, and the selections span a full range of price points, from Very Reasonable to Fantastic Indulgence. Somehow, she presents it all without the visual clutter of similarly well-stocked shops. I also love that there are evening hours. For working people, it's nice not to have to wait until Saturday. Twist is really something special!

Great staff! They hang back when I just want to browse and be in my own world. When I have a question, someone is always available and nearby. Amazing... they must have a mind-reading machine behind that big desk.
Also a really nice selection of funky buttons, bag handles, palmwood crochet hooks (comfy, good price, so hard to find!), and not-old-lady knitting bags.

Be sure to park on Broadway or on the SAME side of 14th St. as the store (and feed the meter). Parking on the other side of the street is residential/permit only. I thought I was lucky when I got a spot across the street without a meter. I came out after my hour of happiness to find that I owed the entire amount of my purchase to the Santa Monica PD. Ouch!
