Hi, Thank you all for the wonderful comments about our store. I am the new owner of Yarns on First. I purchased it in January of 2009 and have been working hard to make it a very comfortable, welcoming place to be.

This is an excellent yarn shop. Great selection of yarns. Friendly and helpful staff. If I lived in Napa I would be there all the time.

I'm sorry this is the only yarn shop in town. Have been trying to be a customer for 4 years or so, but every time I go in there they are snobby and much too busy to help you. I actually took a few lessons there and the instructor was so busy planning her next project or working on her current project to actually teach you much of anything. Unbelievable. Customer service sucks also. I called recently and asked for a Rowan magazine to be held for me and when I went to get it, they had sold it to someone else! In the beginning I spent an obscene amount of money at this store, but no more! If you want GREAT customer service and people that care, go online to Jimmy Beans Wool. They are fabulous! I ordered the Rowan mag that I wanted online on Saturday, late afternoon and it was IN my mailbox on Monday.

I am new to town and have been by the shop twice. Each time there was a group of knitters at the front of the store and I was barely acknowledged. I did not feel welcome, felt I was infringing on a private party. Will shop internet or OOT for now.

Very busy place indeed.
When I went in June this place was booming.
I like the feel of a busy yarn shop because it gives me a chance to look around without someone constantly bugging me.
This shop had a good selection of yarn (all the usual suspects) and lots of friendly faces.
I had a positive experience, and I was greeted/acknowledged when I came into the store and a few of the ladies (even the ones knitting at the front table) said let them know if I needed any help or if I just wanted to hang out LOL.

We were visiting Napa Valley and stopped in. I found it to be a very friendly place. The staff was very helpful and went out of their way to find a book for me. I loved the way the yarn was displayed. All the colors were put together and I enjoyed browsing that way.

Was in the area a week ago with my husband on business. Since I like to check out shops everywhere I go, I found this one on Knit Map and stopped by. I'm glad I did. I was greeted warmly and treated like an old friend. A class was going to be starting a little later, but I was invited to just sit down and knit. The store stocks nice yarn and books...plenty of something for everyone. I too like the way the colors are put together.
