My go to for all sock yarns when I lived in San Antonio! The staff is friendly, but not terribly helpful. Which is just fine, if you already know what you're there for, but not so great if you actually need assistance. They offer classes in the back of the store, and have a limited supply of roving. Great stocks on Noro, including harder to find sock blends.

The first thing I noticed was that all of the yarn is marked with prices (something of a rarity in LYS, IMHO)! Every yarn is clearly labeled with the name, manufacturer, fiber content, price, yarns, weight of skein and yarn weight (fingering, sock, sports, DK, etc.).

Lots of samples all over, I especially like the crocheted Starry Night cardigan.

Great selection in range of weights from lace weight to super bulky. Patterns affixed by thumbtacks hang on end of the yarn shelves, much better for viewing!

Lots of needles, hooks, bags, doodads and paraphernalia for knitting and crocheting. Some fiber for the spinners, too. They rent spinning wheels and a drum carder, so you can try it before you buy it.

Nice area up front for in store knitting and crocheting and a cozy classroom tucked into a back corner.

Top shelf place just mind blowing!! Upon entering and letting it slip I'd never been in there before I got a personal and attentive tour of the place :) Ladies there are so just so cool, helpful, funny and 'Jedi Master' level experts on everything yarn..... Awesome exotic selections. Also have fiber/roving for spinners and they are an Ashford spinning wheel dealer. I've already bought a spindle from them...Love the mini living room for "sitting and knitting".

I was in San Antonio on a mini vacation and made a point to visit Yarnivore. It's a really great shop. The store is very organized and the shelves have tags with information on each yarn - gauge, weight, fiber, and price, etc. It's a very friendly store and I would go back if I'm ever in San Antonio again.

I was in San Antonio on my honeymoon and wanted to check out the LYSs. I found this one and am I ever happy that I did! It’s got a great variety of yarns and patterns. I received excellent service and wonderful yarn and pattern recommendations. I bought a ton of yarn, a couple of patterns and even a t-shirt. A woman came in who was obviously a regular and received help on a few stitches she was learning and the pattern for her project. I wish this store were closer.

Had a business trip to San Antonio this summer and found Yarnivore easily. Meeting Rebecca was great - she was very friendly and nice. The only problem I had was finding room in my suitcase for the yarn I bougtht! I hope I get sent to SA for another trip soon so I can go back.

LOVE THIS STORE!!
Fun name! Great ownership. Very inviting when I came in. I did some browsing, sat and knitted a bit on the comfy couch and purchased some very nice yarn and a book. A great selection of yarns at different price-points. I even got to witness the birth of a sweater while I was there, what a joyous occasion!! Hope to be able to return.
