I have visited this neighbourhood shop many times and have usually received a cool and unfriendly welcome from a variety of staff members (including a woman who seemed to be in a management position). On my last visit I was mortified when the manager and an employee argued in front of me when they could have easily taken it to the back office.

I always visit this store when I am in Ottawa. It is well arranged, lots of selection and a very good collection of books and patterns. Generally the service is knowledgeable and helpful.

Good selection of yarns, but not the friendliest service. They seem to be way better with their sewing machine customers.

I like this store, mainly because it is a browser's store. By that, I mean that I don't feel jumped on when I enter, but I know by a nod or smile that my presence is known. More often than not, someone will let me know that I can ask questions if need be, but not until I have browsed a little. Sometimes I know exactly what I want and the clerk at the cash provides good service. It is unfortunate that the two customers who have written about bad experiences have had them. That said, I have learned to surmise who is an expert on what: yarns, patterns, machines etc. I will ask pertinent q's to those members and always receive useful, friendly help and advice. I do wish that in addition to the lovely, higher end yarns, that they would offer a few mid-range ones, for more utilitarian items such as dishcloths and pram blankets (which I like to make out of nice yarn, but not super expensive higher end yarns that don't wear well in certain weather or are not as easy to care for etc. ) Canadiana is nice, but not always suitable, and there are some less costly bamboo yarns out there that offer great colours.

Despite there being a lot of yarn at this store, I somehow didn't find anything I wanted to buy (and I want to buy ALL THE YARN). Well organized, with lots of space, and a lot of yarn, but I think a lot of the yarn is very similar, there is not a great deal of variety? They had a little bit of top, which was nice. The staff were not unfriendly, but I did feel a little awkward shopping, almost like I was intruding.
A nice variety of yarn, but I don't think this will be somewhere I'll regularly visit.
