Twisted has best sock yarn selection in Portland! Open knit/craft nights on Tuesdays, movie nights on Fridays, and great schedule of rotating classes.

I'm so happy to have found a new teaching spot at Twisted! Every time I go there I am always so happy and greeted so warmly that I wish I could spend all my free time there... but hey, a girl's gotta work and make money for my yarn habit, right?

Great place to teach, learn, get yarn, get help. I come all the way across town just to knit there. Lovely tea, too!

Really beautiful store displays! Cute tees and bags too, had the store been more inviting with more yarn that jumped out at me, I'd have gotten one for sure.

Really great selection of yarn in a variety of budget ranges, very diverse book selection, fantastic tea... everybody is so friendly and helpful! Especially like 'Knit Night' on Tuesdays to talk, relax, get helpful hints and new ideas!

I have visited on several occasions and each time was made to feel at home and comfortable. Sales staff are knowledgeble, but not pushy. It is a place to feel at home and welcome! Lovely place with marvelous choices!!! I recommend highly.

Upon walking in, this shop was lively and obviously the place to be! Beemergirl and I were on a tour of Portland knit shops and found this one to have a great selection of wool and a wide selection of sock yarns and patterns. We liked the knitted samples with signage that advertised classes for that item. There are several seating areas with comfy chairs. (Although the staff was friendly and helpful, the three of them stayed behind the front counter rather than circulating around with the customers.)

What a fun store to walk into with a good friend (SunflowerCompass). We spent the weekend on a yarn crawl and we returned to this store twice- had to go back and pick up a few items. While we were there, a knitting class was in session. Great to see their teaching in action. The only downside is that all the notions are on the back wall behind the class teaching area. Love this store!

What the others found in this yarn store I must have missed.

The denizen behind the counter was snotty and rude. She answered every question reluctantly, as though protecting inner-circle yarn secrets. I have knitted for a LONG time, and I spend a LOT in yarn shops.

The yarn selection is good, but I left without buying anything because of the attitude.

Perhaps it was a bad day. Hope so, for the owner's sake.

Favorite. Yarn. Store. Ever.

The lovely ladies who own the store and the new faces joining their team have created a welcoming, colorful environment. If I lived closer, I'd be there several times a week. Their wall of sock yarn is a thing of beauty.

Visited during sock summit. Selection is good, staff were helpful despite the increased buisiness. Good experience overall, and they have a very welcoming/cozy sitting area.

In a word: GO. This place is amazing in their sock selection. The service is a bit spotty at times, but I'd rather be left alone than followed around. The books are a little hard to access at times due to the people sitting and knitting in front of them. However, it's awesome that there's so much space and seating to hang out and stitch with friends.

Just about the most friendly yarn store you could find. Large selection of sock yarn and knitting/crochet books. Parking may be a little hard to find but worth the walk. Crissie Gardner teaches there and you couldn't get a better instructor. They carry my favorate yarns from Abstract Fiber.

Great place! I knit there at least once a week. Every one who works there is friendly and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is welcoming. They have wonderful tasting teas and cookies and other soft drinks. Their yarn makes you want to keep adding to your stash. Just a 10/10 perfect place.

LOVE Twisted! Absolute best selection of sock yarn in town, super friendly/helpful owners and employees. Basically I'd second every positive thing said by all the other posters. I wish they stayed open until 9 pm, buy hey, you can't have everything!

From the first day I walked into this shop and saw the Dr. Horrible themed teas and the array of scrumptious yarns, and met the absolutely delightful staff, I was hooked. (Crochet pun totally intended.)

I live quite a hike from there, so I don't get to visit as often as I'd like, but I'm headed over there in just a couple hours to teach a crochet class. Those lovely people even gave me a bit of a job!

Great selection. Great space. Great staff.

If you're visiting Portland, Twisted is not to be missed. If you live here, Twisted is the first place to go for a new project or help on a current one.

You've got to visit this shop! Loved the store, beautiful yarns and books, books, books! Very friendly Staff. I would have liked to see the books in a more open area, but I was there during the Yarn Crawl and it was high traffic. Don't miss checking out this store. If you live out of town and want a great shop to go to when you're in Portland this is the place to go for lovely yarn and knowledgeable staff.

Twisted is the best LYS in the universe. I do not exaggerate. I recently went on the Portland Yarn Crawl, and although we are lucky to have many great LYSs, no other can live up to Twisted's selection, vibe, or wonderfully friendly and helpful staff.

Twisted. You. Complete. Me.

This is my favorite yarn shop in Portland--and there are many great shops! There is enough space and light to actually experience the yarns, and I found the staff energetic, friendly, and fun. I suppose a non-sock knitter might be less enthusiastic, given the amount of space devoted to sock yarn. I don't knit socks exclusively, though, and found plenty of other yarns to love.

Such a great shop! They have an amazing selection of sock yarn and a great stock of other weights for just about any project imaginable. Every color of every yarn and all the amazing textures of fibers are easy to see with the bright, well-lit openness of the shop space. The staff are super nice and very helpful. Notions are plentiful and they have hard to find stuff. I'd definitely send my friends there!

Twisted is better than ever! They've expanded into more space and have added new yarns. While they definitely specialize in sock yarn (check out the sock wall), I don't knit socks and have found lots of yarn to satisfy my yarn mania. Great selection of notions too.

Visited them recently on the 2011 PDX Knit Crawl! My sister and I visited all twenty stores in two days! Twisted has quickly become my LYS, even if other stores in the area are closer. I always find yarn I can't live without and they are so amazingly helpful! The staff is just amazing, even on the craziest of days.

I give them my "Most likely to be your LYS" award, because seriously, I can't even express how great I find them to be. They also have a good selection of spinning fiber, and amazing local and handmade accessories. I think my only complaint is that their super cute brown shirt with a green ball of yarn on it doesn't come in my size, but that's not a complaint is it, but a bit of envy and lust.
