Beautiful shop. Lots of pretty yarn. Samples are everywhere.

Most yarn stores will help you with your project but found out that this is not the case here. But that's okay, there are a ton of other shops and so many more online.

I have been to many a yarn shop and I have to say this is one of if not the most pleasant one of all! Monica greated me- asked my name and introduced herself and then throughout our conversation she referred to me by name. She showed me all types of fibers, was informative and attentive without hovering or pushy. Cathy, the owner was delightful and involved. there were several people in the store, calls coming in and they managed to pleasantly help all one at a time. All the while encouraging, smiling and making my visit a very plesant experience. I bought 2 of the most lovely yarns- unique to the shop and hope to be back in Manahattan Beach again sometime in the future to experience this place again! All knitters within an hour or 2 of this place are truely lucky. Those of us who happen upon it while in the area- what can I say- I must have done something good!

I am novice knitter but doing my best to learn quickly. Some yarn shops are just plain condescending to the beginner but NOT this one. The owner, Cathy, was very supportive and answered my questions about a project I was having some trouble with. She has the most beautiful yarns and it was hard not to buy some of EVERYTHING! I walked out with great advice, more confidence and some lovely, very reasonable Malabrigo yarn. What a treasure to have here in the South Bay. I will be visiting (and spending) often!

Ditto to all of the above. As Mallallory said, Cathy will try to accommodate if you call ahead - she stayed open a bit late for me for 1 skein of sock yarn! I only wish she had space for a communal work area, as both she and her customers are friendly and interesting, and it would be a great place to hang out!

As the other reviewers have noted this is a fabulous store. Cathy has a huge selection but it's not cluttered. Cathy is always welcoming and willing to help. I've ordered from her online since I've moved and she's extremely helpful online as well, checking dye lots and sending me descriptions of the color saturations in different skeins of Malabrigo. She has a huge selection of Malabrigo. A must visit if you're anywhere in southern California. Be sure to call ahead and make sure she'll be open, if you have limited hours talk to her, she may be able to work out a special visit for you.

this is one of my favorite yarn stores... definitely my favorite in the south bay! the owner, cathy, is awesome! she is super nice, helpful, has a great eye and full of wonderful suggestions. she has beautiful handmade yarns, and a lot of them with a conscience that support co-ops. she also has a neat selection of buttons, rings, items for sale.... lots of beautiful samples and ideas! it's just a lovely store!

This is the most delightful yarn store I have ever been in and I've been in many! :) The owner, Cathy, is an artist and has an impeccable eye for color. She is on top of the newest and best colors of the season as well as the color standards that we all love to knit and wear. In addition to carrying fantastic yarns from around the world, Cathy has a line of her own exclusive "Twist" yarns that are gorgeous and a dream to knit. Visiting this shop is a treat and should not be missed! Be sure Cathy shows you the gorgeous Lantern Moon knitting needles. I bought one set of Rosewood needles and love them so much that I have decided to forgo my daily Starbucks routine in order to buy them one size at a time. I now own five pair and don't want to knit with anything else. The best part of shopping at Twist is that Cathy has yarns from $7.00 a skein to $57.00 a skein...truely something for everyone. The Malabrigo wools come in the most exquisite colors that I roll my excess project yarn in balls and put them in bowls on my bookshelves and tables. Visit Twist on your lunch break and say "hello"...I will probably be there!

Twist is absolutely my favorite local yarn shop. I am amazed at what Cathy has managed to tastefully, and artfully, display in her quaint little store. Although I live about thirty miles away from Twist, I will often make special trips because Cathy carries the widest selection of Malabrigo yarn in the area. I never feel rushed or pressured when I visit and Cathy is always willing to answer any of my questions...or just let me pet and squish all of her wonderful yarn. Twist is a great store...go there...you won't be disappointed. Did I mention that Cathy has over a hundred colors of Malabrigo?????

Shopping at Twist is a delightful experience every time. Cathy is a kind soul whose understanding of fiber is evident in her inventory. Everything in the store is exquisite, and the selections span a full range of price points, from Very Reasonable to Fantastic Indulgence. Somehow, she presents it all without the visual clutter of similarly well-stocked shops. I also love that there are evening hours. For working people, it's nice not to have to wait until Saturday. Twist is really something special!

On my recent trip to CA, this (and another in Santa Monica) have become my absolute must-stops for much needed yarn therapy while visiting the in-laws. Definitely worth the drive from anywhere in the LA/OC/SD area! Cathy is a sweetheart - and has beautiful yarns - both commercial and her own. I can't wait to set up a visit to work in that dye area!! Proof Positive that a small yarn shop can carry some of the best quality yarns and notions.

This is my favorite yarn store in the country. Handmaiden, tilli thomas are great selections. Also their own very reasonable brand. Colors are fantastic, everything is the top. Lots of different silks and silk blends, bamboo. Owner-Cathy has lost of great samples and ideas. She is super helpful. This is a must visit.
