The atmosphere is okay. The yarn and button selection is very good. Service until you buy is luke warm. No one there just knitting.

This shop is definitely the most gorgeous knitting store in Santa Fe. It is filled with light, very roomy and has a lovely table where customers can sit and look through books and patterns and sort out projects. My husband really appreciated the cushy chairs. The second floor location means a bit of a climb for an out-of-breath tourist--I didn't know they have elevators in the building and will remember this next time. But it was worth the climb! This is a store for the serious knitter if you're looking for big color ranges in natural fibers. They have very little in novelty yarns, but do have a nice selection of hand-paints. The store is sock knitter's heaven...a whole section is reserved for us sock addicts. The shop keepers both design and knit and were a great help.

Don't know what the other poster is talking about re: lukewarm service. I find the owner delightful and willing to be as helpful as he can be. Walked in on a sit & stitch group on Sunday and found them to be a bit snooty, but that's fine, as I don't expect to knit with them.
Definitely my go to shop when we're in town. Great selection of varied yarns and some that I don't see often.

I agree with "Anonymous, too" - I don't know what "Anonymous" means by lukewarm service. David is always willing to find things for me, and even call around to his friend's shop to see if they have a random skein I'm looking for. He offers to special order if he's out of what I need.
There are a lot of great yarns here. There are many shop samples - you can't beat that for trying to see if you like the way a yarn knits up.
The space is bright and packed with inventory (in a good way). There is a nice selection of books, a ton of buttons, shawl pins, finished knits to buy and everything is easy to see, easy to get to, and visibly priced.
Did I mention the buttons? - many, many buttons.
On top of all this, Tutto's has a customer appreciation punchcard.

lovely stuff, some help from a newish salesperson, but the owner was in the back, on the phone, speaking loudly. He never made an appearance.
I'd probably go back when I'm in Santa Fe again, but I had expected some warmth or welcome and didn't really get it.

Tutto is my Santa Fe LYS. Since they opened until the time I moved away in August, this was the place I would go for yarn. The owners and employees are very helpful and there are often other knitters and crafters in the store hanging out. It is a lovely place to hang out for a while looking at patterns or talking with anyone there. The sock yarn section is amazing. I love the customer appreciation punchcard. Mine is already mostly used up! Even now that I have moved away I still love Tutto and will always make it a part of my Santa Fe trips.
