Hi,

Just wondering if this place is still open. I am interested in the tatting classes. My grandmother tried to teach me when I was little and I would like to learn this art.

I fell in love with the shop. It was a pleasure to speak with the owner who is so knowledgeable about the threads, etc.

The Yellow Sweater has moved down Main Street to No. 216, between the Italian restaurant and Cimmaron Rose antique store. The new place is much bigger, and Amy has already added more yarn. She will reopen on Dec. 30 and have a Grand Opening/ROC Day Celebration on Jan. 2. Everyone should stop by and see the new store!
Her hours are Wed. - Sat. 10 - 6 and Sun. 12 - 5.
Sat. night is Stitch & Bitch from 6 - 9.
Lessons are on an individual basis. (What you need and when you are free.) $15/lesson or 4 for $48. Also Sat. afternoons may have classes if there is enough interest in a specific area. (Such as socks or lace.)
This is a wonderful, comfortable knitting/crocheting/tatting/etc. community.

Carole,
Amy is open - went there 1/16/09. She anticipates to have email in about 2 weeks and a website in 6 weeks - till then I suppose phone would work best to contact her.
As Mamasock says, great comfortable location, a true teacher with some yarn - there for the fun of knitting and sharing - perhaps I will make it to a Saturday "evening" meeting sometime.

Amy......
Are you still in business? I drove out from south Austin today and the shop looks empty? I am very interested in learning to Tat and wonder if you are still teaching classes somewhere and when. I also need supplies. Please let me know if you can help me find classes and supplies.
If not you...Who?
Thanks,
Carole Haske

I love this place! It is in a Victorian house - really cute, with tons of atmosphere and even a porch where there will be rockers to sit and knit later on... Amy, the owner, is an extremely good teacher and lots of fun. She has created a laid-back atmosphere where people are welcome to come knit. She can teach whatever you want to learn! She will expand her yarns as soon as she can afford to - she is too smart to go into huge debt right off the bat! Try it out!
