The Yarn Lounge is the place for knitters who delight in the varied textures and colors of natural fibers.
We have an extensive collection of well-known yarns from Rowan, Malabrigo, Blue Sky Alpacas and Brown Sheep as well as selections from Handmaiden, FleeceArtist, and Swans Island. We pride ourselves on providing knitters and crocheters with fibers and yarns from small producers they might not find anywhere else.
Check out our large collection of books, patterns, needles, funky buttons, stitch markers, bags, needle cases and more. We also offer knitting and crocheting classes for all abilities year-round.

Friendly atmosphere. Natural fibers - no gimmicks. Many yarns from small farms or producers.

The first shop I visit when I'm in town! Stewart & Melanie are fantastic...always warm & friendly. Great yarn selection. One of these days I'll be there for Knit Nite!!

Even when Stewart did not know how to do the technique I was trying to figure out, she pulled all of her resources together to help me. I had not even bought the pattern or yarn there.
I certainly did buy before I left though. Wonderful service, awesome yarns, beautiful store.

When I visited family in Richmond, I was so happy to find that it FINALLY has a great LYS (the Knitting Basket was the ONLY LYS for years...errrm, no comment lol) and I wished I lived in Richmond again so I could enjoy this shop! It's spacious, well-lit, with a huge wooden worktable that had a group of friendly knitters working on various projects and chit-chatting. I liked the 'vibe,' which is not something I can say about 90% of the LYS I've frequented. Great selection, lots of my favorite yarns :) and Great location (much <3 for Carytown and the Fan area, one of the best parts of Richmond). How I miss it :(

Stewart & Melanie are the best -- wonderful shop filled with natural fibers. The BEST service & always a new selection of yarns to admire. Well worth the trip anytime you're near Richmond.

This is a beautiful shop in an excellent location with a wonderful selection. I stopped here on vacation and found the service to be awesome and the selection fun! There was a good range of yarn types here. I absolutely love the ‘mini-sweater’ swatches hanging on the yarn shelves in front of each type of yarn… it was so trendy but also helpful, seeing each yarn knit up. The staff was friendly and my purchased yarn was wound into cakes for me as I shopped.
