This store is for your everyday knitter. It's not fancy but has a great selection of yarns. It's a place where you can come in, sit down and get knitting help. It also offers great classes--which I have taken many. The staff is friendly and helpful.

They provide awesome support to knitters who may have gotten in a little over their heads with a project! Thank you, to the gang at the Recycled Lamb!

Hello Knitters and Crocheter!
I recently had a wonderful opportunity to go into The Recycled Lamb (RL) for a visit! What a difference the new owner has made. It is the same old "homey" atmosphere but a lot cleaner and better organized; heck, there is even a new sign out front!!!
This is a wonderful little shop full of very delightful employees. I have always felt welcome to sit and knit for a while. I sure wish I had the time to do just that but often have to get home to the family :-)
The selection of yarn is very nice...there is even something there for weavers and spinners! What I love most is there is always something on sale when I go there that tempts me as I walk in the door!
I swear they have the best selection of needles around (except Showers who is an anomaly :-) town. They have always had the needles I was looking for when I go there. As for crochet hooks...honestly, I have never looked for any there so I can not say if they have some or not.
Classes, I know they have some of the best teachers in town. Every person I have met who has taken a class at RL has seriously loved it and would go back to take another one.
All in all, I found the shop to be much improved. I know the owner has high ambitions to do even more with the shop so be sure to check them out next time you are around the there!

I'm happy to hear from Yarnthing that the shop has improved. They have a great (if messy) selection of yarn and classes on everything fiber related. However, for me their downfall is customer service. I never understood when I would hear about cold-shoulder yarn stores until I visited here. I have never felt welcome here. And some of their staff makes you feel like you have messed up their whole day by coming in. Sometimes you have to search for someone to give your money to. And one lady is, to put it bluntly, incompetent. When I first visited the store she 'helped' me and I just assumed she was new. Nope, she's always like that -- doesn't know where anything is, etc. I'll give it another try thanks to Marly's comments but they'll have to go a ways to erase the bad taste.

I don't even want to think about how much money I've spent over the years at the Recycled Lamb, but at least I get some of it back from the frequent buyer card. Once you've spent $200, you get a store credit for $25. I'm not aware of any other yarn shop that offers this. You can't, however, get your card stamped for yarns that are on sale, and they always have a tempting assortment of yarns marked down a bit.
The RC's prices also tend to be pretty good, compared to other shops. Example: Noro Silk Garden is $1 less per skein than Coppelia's.
I would not call the staff incompetent, but some are better at customer service than others. At least they are not snotty and they don't pressure you to buy stuff you don't want if they don't carry what you DO want.
I have taken four or five different classes from them and have a feel now for the instructors I prefer, but I've not had anyone I didn't think knew what they were doing. My only beef about classes at the RC is that fact that you MUST purchase your class yarn from them, so forget about raiding your stash for a class. Why not raise the class prices a little and offer a discount for the classes if you buy your yarn at the Recycled Lamb instead? Or offer a discount for the yarn if you are buying it for a class.
The best part about the RC is the knitting advice. I've seen people bring in a horrible mess of a project and leave with a smile on their face. If you're trying to pay for your stuff while the staff is helping this poor person, you might not appreciate having to wait, but hey, I figure it's good karma to be patient. One day that person needing help could be me!

I love this place, simply because it's the closest LYS to my home and my work! The yarn selection is pretty good and I've always gotten helpful service. And now I personally know two people who work there. Awesome store!

Outside of Denver proper near/in Lakewood. Friendly place, staff greets you when you come in. I was left to my own devices and moseyed about until I had questions and was able to get staff attention with no problem.
Lots of roving/weaving/spinning supplies. Lots of yarn to choose from. It gets a thumbs up from me.
