So I scurried down to The Knit Cafe to buy some yarn before a long bus trip tomorrow morning , from Davisville and wtf, its 6, they close at 7 but they are closed now :( Too late to make it to another store. Life happens, but maybe next time a note on the door?

I felt no pressure to buy anything. (Not that I didn't buy something wonderful!) So nice to just sit and knit with local folks and learn about Toronto while sipping a very good latte. I met some nice knitters and got some great yarn. They even talked about other stores in the area I should visit. That's what I call class! So nice to find another shop where promoting knitting and fiber arts was important to them. Don't miss this place on your trip to Toronto. If I move to Toronto I may even try to find a place near here. haha.

I did not like this store. The staff was snobby and unhelpful. The selection was limited to a few things of each. After being asked if I knit my jacket (which I did, obviously) I was snubbed immediately.

Stopped in at this store during a recent visit to Toronto. It had the best window display - a circus of knitted and crocheted owls performing a high wire trapeze act. They had a small but solid selection of lovely yarns to tempt me. The staff was very helpful - she picked up quickly on my needs and guided me towards some great seamless sweater patterns. I signed up for their e-newsletter and was included in the mail out the very next day. It is now on my list of "must-visit's" for future trips to Toronto!

I visited this store and clearly came on the wrong day. There was a "high tea event" happening (apparently it happens regularly), and tables and chairs filled the entire, small store. I could SEE some yarns, but couldn't get near it to touch or buy it. Not many patterns for purchase, good selection of accessories but most weren't priced which I find frustrating. The staff seemed rather put out that I was "shopping" and they were anxious to get back to their tea and knitting, so she stood and watched me as I shopped which I found a little creepy. Perhaps going on a different day would have been a better/different experience, but from what I did encounter I'm not anxious to go back.

Standard selection of established yarn brands in cozy space with friendly, helpful staff. Easily accessible by bus from Ossington stn. or Queen W. streetcars. Not very close to major attractions but interesting not-yet-gentrified neighborhood for random small art galleries, funky retro boutiques.

Love this place, more for the staff & atmosphere than the selection (it's on the small side). Great place to knit, nibble, and pick up a skein or two of something luscious.
