The Grove at Juniper and 30th has a great selection of yarns, needles and notions. In addition to yarn they have other craft supplies as well as gifts and books. They offer weekly classes and knit salons.

The Grove's yarn department stocks Brown Sheep, Blue Sky, and a continuously fresh parade of natural luxury fibers that you won't find in the big box stores.
Seasonal classes, an active Ravelry group, and an award-winning Knit Salon (crocheters welcome, too!) on 1st & 3rd Thursday nights provide a sense of community and support among beginners and yarn masters.
(Um, I do their website, so I'm biased!)

A heads up - The grove isn't really a dedicated yarn store, it's a large store selling all kinds of things (books, clothing, kitchen gadgets, art, jewellery) with a yarn corner. As a tourist in the USA who made a special trip out to the Grove, I was a bit disappointed with the selection of yarn. Sometimes there was only one skein or one colour of a kind of yarn, but then there were three shelves devoted to another. You could probably only buy a sweater-lot of one or two kinds of yarn.
Service was okay but only at the counter, there was one woman working for a very large store, so she was basically limited to serving at the till.

Very cute shop.
Not a yarn shop, but does have a small section of yarn, knitting books, and knitted items.
This is a really unique shop, with fabric, books, clothing, and local art. Really great environment, and definitely a place worth stopping in and checking out. It's really beautifully laid out.
