Wonderful variety of both fibers and yarn! Very helpful. Definitely worth the drive.

I love The Fold. LOVE IT. THIS IS A VERY WELL STOCKED SHOP! A dizzying array of fiber and roving... a spinners paradise. The yarn selection is excellent with a wide variety of high quality yarns that is different from what you will find at nearly any other shops. The service is very folksy and helpful. A little challenging to get to (it seems) but I gladly make the trip... almost weekly! The owner, Toni, is very kind, helpful and knowledgable! From her humble beginnings with a few sheep (there is a barn full of them in the back!) she has grown organically into one of the most amazing, full-service, fiber-related shops I have ever been to. Knitting, crochet, weaving, spinning wheels, drop spindles, felting... She also happens to be the "off-line" retail representative for Blue Moon Fiber Arts "Socks That Rock" so that little slice of yarn heaven is there in abundance! Gorgeous selection of buttons. Group and private classes are available in virtually all fiber disciplines.

Too many delicious choices at this store. It's definitely a hike, but as one of the only Socks That Rock vendors, it's worth the trip if you get a bunch of people together to carpool and make a day of it.

Superlative selection of sock yarn. Nice corner of sale items. Cozy fireplace, friendly dog. I visit whenever I'm in the area.

I LOVE shopping at The Fold. *LOVE* it! Not only for the on-site BMFA selection, which is totally gorgeous, but because the layout of the store is just so easy to follow and so comfortable. There are so many fibers that completely suit my yarn-snob tastes. I am so in love BMFA, but they an equally heart-stopping collection of Mountain Colors Bearfoot. And let's not forget books! What an amazing selection of books... And Erik the German Shepherd - he is absolutely the greatest FiberHound in the world.
I love going to The Fold. It is worth the drive - I don't care how far it is. ~ k

Who would have thought such a fabulous shop would be found where The Fold is located! They have a very large stock of spinning supplies, dyes, yarns, and books. It's a truly comfortable and welcoming store. I felt free to browse and ask questions without being smothered at all. They have a wide variety of yarns including many that I haven't seen in other shops around the country.
I was sad that Toni and Erik the fiber hound were away on vacation. Guess that means I'll have to make the 11 hour drive again next year. Totally worth it!! (Oh, and I guess I could drop in on my mother after I do my yarn shopping.)

I adore this shop. Everything that the others have said is true. I drive out to get my Socks That Rock fix whenever I am in Illinois. I am also thrilled that they now carry some of the MadelineTosh line. The walls of fiber are a spinner's dream.
