This is for Karen - I was in your store and saw a white scarf the was all cable knit. I would like to make that scant but I can not find the pattern. If you could sell me the pattern then I could order some yarn. Please e-mail me with some information. Thanks. Joan

This is the second time I've visited this wonderful little store. And what a surprise -- I was looking for a book store the first time and stumbled on this instead.

Great basic yarn collection and some locally dyed yarn too in colors that reflect the environment, blue, green, reds.

This is my favorite LYS away from home.

Love this shop. We live in Poipu 6mos in the winter and travel to this shop for knitting supplies. They are the best and treat everyone like they of their Ohana. I was ill this past year and did not get there for my special time. I was looking for a sock pattern that the owner had given me when I bought some tiny circular needles. When I called her from the mainland she was sooooooo helpful. Best service and friendly atmosphere.

My friends and I found this wonderful shop last Oct and it is a wonderful place. I love purses and the first thing I saw was these beautiful purses. And the owner sat right down and showed us how to knit. One of us knows how. I like to sew but I never thought I could knit. well My purse was 1/2 down by the time we flew home. And my friends was done. And they came out just like hers in the store. I am working on a green one now. And I have never in my life seen such neat purse handles. they were perfect. And I have looked all over the place for nice leather handles. It is a very very nice shop and the lady was one of the nicest people I have ever meet. So if you knit and your going to Kaui make sure you go to this shop some of the nicest yarns also. tis in a tiny town at the end of the island called Hanalei. and the town has some nice other shopping also.
Aloha

This is the perfect store for my husband and me. He tries out the ukuleles and I buy yarn and knitting books. This store has amazing yarns with samples knitted up and the book or pattern for the sample by its side. This store is small but packed with lots of beautiful yarn and knitted samples. The best part is one of the owners, Karen, helped me select some yarn and needles. They have a very friendly knitting circle on Sundays and Tuesdays. Karen taught me how to knit a PAIR of socks from the toe up (yes, two at a time). Socks...in Kauai? Oh yeah. Aloha and a hui hou.

I have been playing an older composite wood ukklele that I purcahsed three years ago form you. And then returned and purchased a new one last year from you. Infinally playing the new one, I was trying to tune to another scale and broke the #3 string. I am in need on a new set of strings. I forgot what type of uke it is. The length from nut to bridge is 17 inches. It is a mele and made of the native wood. I have not found the type of strings that make it work here.
I was under the impression that you had set up a certian combination of strings. Anyway I would like to order a couple of sets from you or if that isn't possible can you set me off on a successful path here?
Thank you

Love the project, that I got at your store, in January. It's going to be a felted purse, when I get done with it. I need your help. I'm sure you don't remember me, but you did mail me my yarn, needles, more yarn, etc. I live in Renville, MN. What I am looking for, is some leather and bead handles like those that were on the "sample" in your store. You said you had not made the purse, it belonged to someone else. The handles were a dark brown, with beads. At the time you did not have long enought handles for me. Have you gotten more handles in? If not, could you give me the name of where you got the handles? I have been checking on the internet, but can not find any that are as attractive as the ones in your store. Thanks, for your help, in advance. By the way, could you put us in touch with a real estate agent, where we could rent and condo or house, for 2 months next winter? Myrna Pedersen

Great little shop. Love to visit, everyone is so nice. If you are looking for a particular yarn then I would suggest calling before you went and they could order it for you. Bit of a drive from Lihue

We just came home from Kauai, Hawaii. Strings and Things was a lovely surprise. I didn't expect to find knowledgeable and passionate knitters in Hawaii. This is the kind of store where yarn and books and needles tumble out of shelves and baskets all over the place. You knit while various locals and visitors wander through, and since it's also a store for music, sometimes they play the instruments. Wonderful.

Great little shop! Wish I had more time to hang out when I was there...next time! Found some gorgeous handpaint silk in an "Ocean Wave" colorway - the perfect knitter's souvenir!

Lovely yarns, beautiful instruments for sale, movies for rent, CDs, casual, funky atmosphere, perfect for hanging out and knitting, yakkin', and listening to the local stories.
