I stopped into Stix while in Bozeman on a busines trip. At first I walked right past it becuase it's downstairs. Look carefully! It didn't look that large going down the stiars, but after I wlaked in, I saw a whole other room in the back, plus a huge room around the corner. This place has everything! What an amazing yarn selection. The prices are reasonable and the staff is super friendly and helpful. I actually came back the next day to buy some more yarn. I loved this store.

I live near Bozeman and I'm a regular at Stix. The atmosphere in the "lounge" is very comfy, the staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and enthusiastic about helping, and they have a decent book selection.

Stix is okay, but I'd rather go across the street to the Yarn Shop. Way better selection there.

I stopped by Stix while on vacation to look for a specific yarn. Even though I couldn't find the yarn that I was looking for, I bought some magazines and took a FREE pattern book---yes, a pattern book for FREE! The staff there was really nice and didn't give me any attitude even though I didn't spend much. They also have a really great sock yarn selection.

I'm torn...Stix has a wide selection of beautiful yarns. However, I find their prices to be too prohibitive to make myself a regular customer there. The last time I was there the two workers were much more concerned about buying tickets to some concert online (at The Gorge, I think??) than helping me, so I chose a book and left to buy the yarn elsewhere. I have friends who've received flak for buying "practical" yarn (i.e., machine washable) from the manager or owner...whiskey tango foxtrot?? Not everyone wants to knit things that need to be handwashed and blocked every time they get wet (especially for baby things given to new moms). I can't deny the quality of the product they sell, and I've personally received cheerful help with a pattern in the past from the person manning the register. I've just had such polarized experiences in this place, it's tough to justify going there on a regular basis.

My experience at this LYS could not have been better. I like the fact that you walk down some outside stairs to the shop; it adds the charm. Yarn selection, arrangement, atmosphere, and service were all outstanding.
